Sharp Coccyx pain

Hey everyone!

I'm 24weeks pregnant, and I've noticed alot that I get sharp pains in my coccyx when I'm walking or, even if I'm just sitting, or standing. Is this all part and part of the pregnancy? It's really quite painful at times. :(

Thanks,

Alice

Hi I am having a similar pain but not in coccyx mine is between my legs, it's unbearable when getting out of car or putting on trousers, I am going to mention it to midwife today, you should mention yours to midwife. I did Google pain in coccyx while pregnant, they are a few things you can do to ease pain like sitting on a donut cushion, moving positions frequently, emptying bowels and so on,, website did say that they pain could be caused by baby pressing down on coccyx or the ligaments relaxing. Another thing website said was that there is no cure and pain will normally go away after birth, but that's just one website, midwife may know of a effective treatment, phone her, where's the harm? Hey Rebecca,

Thank you for coming back to me. Yeah I read it was just a suck it up kind of thing! :) I have a re-booking in appt tomorrow with the midwife (moving hospitals) so I'll ask then. I suppose it's not the worst thing in the world, just annoying!

Yours sounds horrific though, mine is at least bearable! Are you ok, what did the midwife say? I had my first bath as a pregnant lady the other day, always been a shower girl, but my god! that was the most comfortable I've been in ages! I hope you sort your pain out.

Omg ur making me jealous we only have a shower unit ☹️ Lol. Midwife didn't say a lot just that muscles are relaxing and it's going to happen, going back in 2 weeks for 28 week appointment she said if it's unbearable she will send me to therapy, but they won't do a lot might get a support belt. hopefully ur midwife may have a different result for you, I have started maternity leave now so will just take it slow! Good thing from today was heard a strong heartbeat 😃 Let me know how you get on tomorrow. X

Hey Rebecca,

How's it going? Has the pain eased off at all?

I've had strange pains in my pelvis this morning, I called the midwife this morning and they've just said it could be the muscles relaxing. Bloody muscles, eh? That seems to be the stories of our lives! haha!

Are you 31 weeks now? How is it going?

Pains worst than ever 😥 Mentioned it to midwife she wasn't that concerned said that it is part of it which I get, but I seem to be in too much pain, went back Friday just gone got 28 week appointment and she didn't even mention it. It's painful but I can cope, now I am on maternity leave I don't do a lot which helps but everyone says to stay active but when it's almost unbearable to walk 6 feet it's hard to stay active. Still only 12 left then i am hoping will go after birth. Apart from this all is going ok (I think) lol, had 28 week check up good strong heartbeat and bump measured 28cm which I think is about right. How are you getting in? How far are you now!? X

Oh no, sorry to hear you're still in a lot of pain, it's good that you've been able to go on Mat leave but yeah as you say it'd be nice to be able to walk! Would swimming help it maybe? I know you said you didn't have a bath. My friend who is also pregnant says swimming is amazing for it, makes you feel really weightless, might be worth a go to strengthen down there and get some exercise?

I'm knackered just going upstairs now, so also need to get my arse in gear and go to the swimming pool, just can't be bothered!

I've just turned 27weeks so we're not far apart from eachother! It's going ok thanks, just back pain and pelvic twinges, but that's about it. Fully on the count down now. I'm working until the day I drop as the maternity package at work is a bit crap. Can't wait to leave this place for 9months though! X

I have thought about swimming but I would have to walk to pool and back and it's the walking that's putting me off! Have u brought much yet? X

Yeah that's not good, argh! Vicious cycle!

We've got the baby's room pretty much furnished, alot of it is secondhand cause baby stuff is so expensive! The Aldi Baby Event a couple of weeks ago was good, although seemed to sell out really quickly! What about you? X
