Yesterday, 10/21/2015, was my 46th birthday. That evening I started to show signs of slight bleeding. Of course, I freaked out a little, but I'm doing ok now. This morning, I woke up still bleeding. I'm cramping just a little, but no bad. I'm going to see my GP today. I'm just hoping that is a normal thing that happens in the 1st trimester. I've had 2 miscarriages before, so I know what that feels like. This is nothing like that at all. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before, as well? Would love to hear from you. I came across this, this morning. Just thought I would share. Trying to be positive.♥
** --- Possible Cause #1: Breakthrough Bleeding Some women experience what is known as ‘breakthrough bleeding’, at the times when a period would have normally been due, at 4, 8 and 12 weeks of pregnancy. It is often accompanied by the feeling that you would normally associate with your period being imminent, i.e. back ache, cramps, a heavy sensation in your pelvis, feeling bloated and ‘off’. Of course, because you are actually pregnant, the period doesn’t arrive (even though you feel like it will). During pregnancy, hormones prevent your period from occurring. Sometimes, if the hormone levels are not yet high enough to stop your period, the result is breakthrough bleeding. It can last for about three months; after this time the placenta begins to take over hormone production from the ovaries. Some women experiencing breakthrough bleeding throughout their pregnancy, even under the close watch of their doctor, still have healthy babies.**
I can relate to this, because of the fact that I'm still showing low HCG levels. Meaning, I'm still having negative HPT's as well as, a negative blood test, that was taken at only 2 1/2 weeks. I will have another blood test done today, at my appointment. ♥

Hi Smilein, so sorry to read this today!! How are you and baby, have you been to the Drs yet? Not to get too personal but was it bright red blood? I have had some recently after sex- totally freaked me out but after trip to maternity, they found I had a pollup on my cervix that had caused it.
Sending lots of love and hope all is well with you and little one. Xxx
It can of course be due to various things, the best option being it's to do with implantation and all works out well or, what we don't hope!, a miscarriage.
I bled around 7 weeks when I was pregnant the first time round and noticed at work, and it really freaked me out. I'm a teacher and we had Ofsted in that day so I couldn't even leave school. I went to the Eaely Pregnancy Unit at my hospital later on - if I were you that's where Id go - they do immediate scans to check. Often it's too early to see anything for sure around that week, in my case they just saw a sac so I kept worrying for another week when they scanned again, but at least they saw something whereas the GP can't do much. In my case it turned out all right and my boy turns two next month, so I keep my fingers crossed it's the same for you!!
I had a small amount of bleeding and cramps around 6/7 weeks. I went to see the midwife and she checked and everything was fine. Hope you're both ok. Keep us posted. Lots of love. Xxx
Thank you, everyone, for all your sweet replies. They really mean a lot. I'm am very saddened to say that I did have a miscarriage, on the evening of my 46th birthday. I'm doing well. Yes, It was a hard thing to go through, but I truly believe that God has a plan. Not just for me, but for all of us. My Dr. said that, If my husband and I would like to try again, that this would be the best time to do so. She told me that, after a miscarriage you are very feral. So, with that being said, 🎉 "ON WITH THE BABY MAKING"! 🎉 HEHEHEHE! I have come to connect with all of you and I just adore you all. I feel like I have made such a great deal of AWESOME friends. So thank you, everyone, for being a BIG part of my special journey. God Bless You All,
Smilein♥ 💋💋
P.S. I will for sure keep you all posted on the up and coming months ahead! ♥
Dear Smilein, so sorry to hear of your loss. I have been thinking of you lots. Be gentle with yourself. wishing you a happier outcome in months to come. Xxx
It looks like you've got the right attitude though, good luck to you!!
I'm not sure whether other success stories help... My friend miscarried and was told exactly the same, to try again straight after (if emotionally ready!) and she fell pregnant very soon after and went on to have a healthy pregnancy. I keep my fingers crossed that this happens to you too!
Thank you for sharing that with me. I had a miscarriage, before getting pregnant with my daughter. The same happened again, right before my son as well. After those losses, I did end up pregnant very soon after. So, all POSITIVE thoughts here! I'll for sure keep you posted. ♥
I am 6 weeks and just wet to the dr today and everything was fine. Them this Evening I bled and sis have some clots about 3 - dime sized ones. Did I miscarry?
Hi I just read your post. I an 45. Will be 46 in three weeks. I am 6 wks pregnant today. I woke this morning and had some cramping then heartburn, I found blood tinged on toilet paper as I wiped. As the day progressed I was very active but several times checked and bloody tint seemed to disappear as the day progressed. Now at night I find a red bloody with lightly brown barely on its edges blood clot the size of a pea with more bloody tinged mucous when I wiped. I'm cramping as if I am about to start my period. I have not seen a Dr yet and have no insurance currently, have applied for insurance as of this past week but have not been accepted yet. Do you think this is a miscarriage. I've been praying daily that this baby be born healthy I know my age brings concerns.
Give yourself time to come to terms with it but your Drs right. I'm 15 weeks pregnant 2 months after a miscarriage. Good luck. Here if u want to talk about it tho, its a difficult thing to go through xxxx
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so thrilled to hear that you are 15 weeks along. Congrats to you!! Please keep me posted on how you're doing! ♥
I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I am also an 'older' woman, and had a miscarriage around the same stage in pregnancy in November last year. We continued trying to conceive, saw a fertility specialist and went through most of the fertility tests available. I was planning to have the hysterosalpingogram during my next cycle, when I became pregnant. I am now 20 weeks pregnant.
