Congratulations :) The dating scan is the only way to give you a better idea though really. Two things to bear in mind though are that subsequent babies tend to show earlier, and depending on your height/frame you can show earlier/later. Every bump's different. I was showing about your size at 8 weeks (this is my 1st pregnancy) due to bloating, cos I'm only 5 feet tall. I'm guessing they will assume 12 weeks so that they can get you in for your first scan sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, you can choose to think either 8, 12 or somewhere between. Dating's not precise anyway. Personally I think I'd assume more like 8 and then if the scan says further along you've sailed past the magic 12 week mark. I'd keep taking your folic acid until you get the results from the scan as it could be either.

Seriously though, I am 18 weeks with number two and much bigger than I was first time round - I don't think I was this big till at least 6 months! Assume because my yummy muscles aren't as strong. How old is your first? Dating scan will put your mind at rest Hun.. Congrats :-) xx

Congratulations! I had exactly the same thing with my 2nd &had the shock of my life when I discovered at the scan I was expecting twins. It probably isn't, as everyone's said you do tend to show earlier with your second, but it might be worth just considering the possibility it could be twins so you don't have a meltdown like me at the scan x

For your 2nd one you get bigger quicker! At 5 weeks I was in maternity clothes! Your body understands the 2nd pregnancy so knows what to do, I.e . Expand quickly!!!! You'd dating scan will confirm your dates!!!!

Let us know how get on at the dating scan when all secrets will be revealed. Congratulations!! If it's any consolation it is a beautiful bump and made me smile :)

Congratulations, Someone forgot to give my body the memo for knowing what to do on your 2nd ie, getting bigger quicker I am 37 Wks today and only measured 33.5 when I was measured by the midwife this week. I had to have a growth scan at 34 Wks as my bump was only 30cm. The scan will give you the answer but I don't think bump size matters as long as baby is ok.
