I would be grateful for any advice from pregnant ladies that have had the flu jab this year or last. I was booked in for my flu jab a few days ago, but before i went i thought i would do a little bit of research on the internet. What i found was lots of frightening reports that linked it to miscarriage (some very reputable) and some very heart wrenching accounts of ladies that had lost their babies a few days (or even the same day) as having their jab. I am so confused now as getting flu sounds pretty scary, but miscarriage is in a different league, and so for now i cancelled the appointment. Can anyone (especially if you have had the jab) and now have a healthy baby advise me. I am out of my mind with worry (and that's bad for the baby too!) and don't know what to do for the best. Thank you xx

Should i get the flu jab, is it safe and did you have it?
I had it, at the same time as the whooping cough one and didn't have any side effects to either of them at all. x
I had the flu jab last Jan/Feb when I was about 8 weeks or so pregnant. No side effects at all. In fact I didn't get so much as a sniffle all year either which was great. Had the whooping cough jab at 34 weeks or so. Now the proud mummy of a very healthy little 17week old boy. No problems whatsoever and I personally would recommend it to protect you and your baby. I will be doing the same in any future pregnancies x
Wish I'd have had it!!! Went to the appt but had a very high temp and a nasty cough (was 12 weeks) so I couldn't have it! By the time I'd got better flu season was over x
I had my flu jab and whooping cough jab at the same time when I was about 32 wks pregnant I think and no side effects whatsoever and now have a healthy 5 wk old little girl.
Had it, no side effects. I wouldn't think twice about it, as flu (proper flu) is so dangerous.
I also had both the flu jab and whooping cough jab together, baby due in about a week. I remember being a little worried about m/c, especially as my last pregnancy ended in m/c at 12 weeks, but I took the view that at least some of the m/c reported at the time of flu jab must have being coincidence, it's so frustrating that it happens so often with no specific reason. Good luck whatever you choose.
Although I've never had flu, I had the jab at about 8 weeks. When I asked if it was safe, I was told if it wasn't safe, it wouldn't be offered. Had no side effects whatsoever. It's your choice, but I would recommend getting it to protect yourself and the baby Xx
I had the flu jab and my son now nearly 17 weeks is fine..I believe sorry if I sound controversial but the Internet is quite evil at times there are many people out there who just want to scaremonger ..there are possible consequences to everything in life but if the flu jab was going to make u hav a miscarriage it wudnt b offered as freely as it is and I wud take a jab over my son getting flu as it can potentially kill a baby. Sorry if this sounds harsh
Too right ceri! X
I totally agree
Hi, I had the flu jab middle of November and I'll be honest it made me feel dreadful for next day or so but was fine after that. Had scan 2 weeks later (21 weeks ) and everything fine with LO. I had a miscarriage last summer and hadn't had the flu vaccine then, I think the reports you're reading are just coincidence. Chat to your Midwife if worried but as others have said, wouldn't be recommended if not safe xxxxxxx
Hi,
I had the flu jab and now have a very healthy 11 week old boy. I had no side effects that I can recall. I also had the whooping cough vaccine - I think that gave me a sore arm but that was about it. xx
I had mine at about 36 weeks with the whooping cough vaccine and had no problems.
I had my flu jab and my whooping cough jab at 28 weeks, now I am 34 weeks+ no side effect, baby ok.
i had flue jabs with both pregnancies and this time had whooping cough at the same time, did feel rotten for couple days but its worth it, as flu can be very dangerous for you and your baby, also whooping cough is really dangerous for baby once they are born. i have suffered whooping cough when i was a child, and its horrible. get appointment and do it,
I had my flu jab back in Oct. I am due in April. No problems whatsoever, not even a sore arm.
When people miscarry it is of course natural to look for a cause to blame, but no one can ever say with certainty what causes a miscarriage. Personally I think the risk of what can happen once you catch flu in pregnancy is far worse than any risks of having the jab.
I had the flu jab at 29 weeks with my whooping cough one and every thing was ok. Im now 35 weeks and have a very active little boy that's due on 7th February
I had the flu jab + I was fine. I was worried at first all I had was a sore arm. The baby was fine kicking away after wards. I'm due to have my baby any day now.
