I am currently 40+4 weeks and have an appointment at the hospital on Monday for a sweep. Since its December the 23rd how long will I wait to be induced? Will I be almost 42 wks because of the holiday???

When I went overdue I was going to be induced at 42 weeks. They tend to do unless there is a specific reason to induce before that point. I dont think its anything to do with xmas. However, I started on my own at 41 weeks....though it was a little more complicated in my case than that. But you do have time for it to happen for you before than x

Thanks for the update, I didn't know I am bit tired of waiting but guess I have to be patient then... :)

Lol. It's so hard to be patient though isn't it!! The end seems to last forever x

I was due 14th dec and went in to be induced on the 26th :-)

They usually leave u 42 weeks as standard...I got an induce date but my son came naturally 5 days later. Unfortunately its a waiting game and yep its quite frustrating. Gd luck x

I think all hospitals are different. I was booked in for induction for 12 days overdue but thankfully LO came the day before! I think they can leave you upto 14 days. I think the wait after 40 weeks is horrible I feel for you!

I was booked in to be induced 12 days after my due date (14 days would have been a Sunday which I think the midwife was trying to avoid). I was fortunate that my little man decided to come along in the early hours on the induction day :-)

Good luck and I hope all works out well for you xx

Think the ladies are right....as I never actually ended officially booked in for induction. Think it would have been 12 days overdue to allow your body time to deliver by the 14 days if possible x

With my first child I was induced, they did this on the 10th day overdue x

They used to induce at 10 days overdue but they changed it to twelve days here in Scotland because too many women were needing it. Wish it was still ten
