well i will try and keep it short and sweet not been on for a few weeks now.
So i finished work just before i was 36 weeks, as planned i had a growth scan at 36 weeks and 4 days they told me everything looked ok, then armed with my hospital bag just in case off i went to see my other half in the Army, but after looking at my notes could not get out of my head that my little mans growth had rapidly slowed down, when i got back his movement was right down so i took no chances and headed straight for A and E he was fine but they agreed his growth had rapidly slowed down, they then arranged a growth scan for the following week and told me to go back if i was worried. I did end up back at A and E for the same reason later that week and they asked me to go back for monitoring the following day and everything still looked ok just had the agonizing wait for the growth scan.
So my boyfriend booked leave and we went to the scan on Thursday last week when i was 38 weeks and 4 days, i was informed there was increased resistance on the cord, they decided i was going to be induced on Sunday but wanted me back for daily monitoring, when i returned on Friday they had had a rethink and decided i was being induced that evening.
I got to the hospital for 8pm as arranged and Pete was allowed to stay with me till i was settled the pessery was put in at 9.15pm i was informed i would be on a monitor the entire time and it could take upto 48 hours as it was my first baby and i wasnt at 40 weeks, by 10.30pm i was being sick and in agony i was given an injection for the pain and the pessery was removed, it didnt take the pain away but knocked me out i got a little bit of rest, time flew with my belly cramping i finally nodded off about 7am Saturday morning about to wake up to find my man sat by my bed he'd been there since 8.30am. the pain was getting worst but i didnt see much of the midwife at all i was basically left to it on the induction bay. When they put the pessery back in i was examined and told i was 2cm and it would be a long while as they were starting the 48 hours again, Pete decided to go and get some rest about 2pm swapping with my mum, to cut a long story short i thought i needed the loo (number 2) so went and once on there couldnt get back up but had to get to the door to let the midwife in there was blood coming from me by this point, i was examined again and was 8cm, the midwife (seemed harsh at the time but i now understand where she was coming from) made me walk to the labour ward, Mum rang Pete, i walked into the labour room at 3.28pm after struggling to get past the door Pete got into the room at 3.53pm, and on Saturday 28th September 2013, Ewan James arrived 4.01pm after 3 pushes he weighed 5 lbs 8oz and he is the double of Pete, he latched straight away and feeding well as he was little and they wanted to monitor his glucose levels and feeding ability so we stayed in hospital for one night and came home Sunday, hes now 5 days old and doing so well, cant stop staring at him. After being warned they loose a little weight before gaining the Midwife has been out today and he has gained 2 oz im so proud of our little superstar so after a pregnancy that was actually fine although i constantly panicked i had a very good labour and my little man is doing so well, we only planned to have one and im sticking by that but he is absolutely perfect and is currently being spoilt rotten by everyone
I couldnt be happier, congratulations to all the ladies who's babies have been born since i was last on and thankyou for all the support i received throughout my pregnancy, catch up soon
