Hi there.i'm 32weeks and i've been taking Pregnacare from week 12.as it contains loads of different vitamins i dont take nothing else.obviously i eat healthy(loads of fruit&veg especially green ones).my blood tests are ok so i dont have to take extra magnesium or iron.i get cramps but thats the beauty of pregnancy ...its better to consult it with your midwife as too much vitamins is not good as well xx
Magnesuim ineffiency is the cause of cramps. I do not trust the health system UK so I searched by myself. I went to GP and said my blood level can be low she did not request any test. I do not understand UK at all
Cramps are actually a hormonal phenomenon and have nothing to do with magnesium. Low calcium can contribute BUT your body sorts out blood calcium levels itself as it is so important for the function of do many enzymes in your body. Pregnancy slime does not cause low calcium.
You body will take up more calcium from your diet or at a push, take it from your bones (will not happen for something such as pregnancy unless you already have an underlying problem pre-conception). Baby is largely cartilage anyway - else giving birth would be even more barbaric. Blood calcium levels are very, very, very tightly controlled naturally - trust me! For them not to be is usually a sign if an underlying endocrine problem or bone problem... Look up 'calcium homeostasis'. X
