I went to AnE Friday through the night because I had blood after bowel movement and the pain in my poor bottom was really bad. The doctor was so lovely and I feel reassured after she examined me. Even internallinternally, in the same ways that the doctors/oncologists used to do at every cancer check up to ensure the bowel was smooth and feltfelt healthyhealth
She said that the pain n blood was from damage to layers of skin inside and it was very tender looking, even flaking a little.
I was wondering if anyone else on the forum had some experience ogf this and if it could be damage from my radiation treatment for womb cancer 26 years ago.

Hello 3rdNettydoon. Oh poor you. Yes, it is a bit frightening to get bleeding from the bowel, I get it sometimes too, but it usually stops fairly quickly. On colonoscopy I've seen that the tiny little blood vessels near the surface of the skin are clearly visible and fragile which easily break if there is any friction, and I've been told this causes the bleeding. I also get bleeding when the skin splits round the anus sometimes, but again it heals quickly. I hope you felt reassured that they had a good feel but if it keeps happening you could ask for colonoscopy perhaps?
Hi 3rdNettydoon. Like you I am 25yrs post Womb Cancer Treatment. I was 27yrs old. I had a Radical Hysterectomy & Radiotherapy. My Oncologist THEN was able to tell me that the damage from the Radiotherapy may not show itself for many years to come. My problems started about 8yrs ago. The nerves in my Bowel are so badly damaged that they cannot even fit a Colostomy Bag. I wear what I call my, 'Nappy', 24/7 & go between having 'Accidents' to constipation. I know what you mean when you talk about your sore bottom. I don't know about your Bowel habits, whether you go a lot or are suffering with Constipation or even both.
I bought a Plastic Bidet (on Amazon). It sits on the rim of the toilet. I fill it with lovely warm water & just sit in it for about 15mins at a time. It's a life saver. The warm water does wonders for any pain or stinging. Also I sometimes use Haemorrhoid Cream as it has an Applicator that you can insert into your Rectum (it doesn't hurt me at all) but it gets that cream way inside to settle everything down. I hope I have been of some help & good luck in your endeavours. Try not to worry although I know that is easier said than done.
Thank you. It is helpful. Even knowing we aren't alone is reassuring. It's constant diarrhoea for me. I'm now 76. I was 50 when I had my womb cancer. Diarrhoea started with my first session. But I was young and working so got on with things. Now however it's awful. I was eventually given liquid loperamide and that was so good. Still had accidents and bouts of it but able to live and socialise. Unfortunately the liquid was stopped which has resulted in what feels like worse than ever, probably cos it was semi controlled before.
Seems to me that whatever reason the liquid was discontinued was so so wrong. Just not a thought to any one who was relying desperately on it. My own cynical belief is that it was prescription only and not selling enough to be profitable enough for those who shall not be named.
Thank you and I hope that your own problems can be improved and soon. X
Hiya, just to let you know that I am on 8 Co-Codamol a day. For 2 reasons, for Pain & to stop everything running out of me. Because I'm on the Codeine & I have no chance of a Colostomy my Colorectal Consultant has me on a gentle Laxative every Morning & I have to stick to a Low Residue Diet. Basically I'm not allowed to touch Fibre in any way as my Bowel cannot handle it. It doesn't really matter that much cause if anyone's like me, eating isn't top of my priority list. It's too painful & I hate the consequences. Maybe if you have a decent Medical Person that you can talk to (I know, they're few & far between) they might be able to suggest something along those lines. Just a suggestion.
I guess it must be a EU or British restriction because the liquid is available in the US and it’s OTC. Did not know it was available in liquid form since I have only used the caplets. Thanks . I personally have bleeding on occasions of constipation but it is minor. Bleeding skin from going so much and having to wipe so often but it heals pretty quickly. I use Anusol-HC when it s really painful.
If i really need to stop the diarrhea I will take two pills then maybe one more later but no more. Three or four at one time will back me up for probably two days and it’s very uncomfortable. If I have to be at a public event and I’m not good beforehand I’ll make the sacrifice but again it’s not fun.
