I saw your post and I thought I would reply. I previously had cervical cancer and I have been given the all clear (thank you) and discharged from the cancer hospital (thank you).
I don't know anything about ANA tests but I have had several bowel obstructions and the doctor at the hospital mentioned my inflammation markers were "higher than normal". Which, freaked me. They put it down to me having 2 stomas and a fistula.
Just over 3 weeks ago I had another bowel obstruction and I was told I have radiation enteritis. Which was the cause of the inflammation.
I am awaiting to hear from my local long term effects clinic and a dietician.
Fingers crossed for you and maybe your doctor wants to chat about the inflammation.
Please let us know how you get on. I am not being nosy, I hope you will be fine.
Hi Lisa. Thank you for your reply. I'm so pleased to hear you have been given the all clear and discharged. I'm sorry you have had such awful side effects, however.
Oddly my c reactive protein marker is low, but my ESR is elevated. I don't really understand what this means, but I certainly feel 'inflamed'. The rectal inflammation comes and goes, but it feels like the rest of my body is acting up with flu like symptoms - inflamed throat, post nasal drip, extreme fatigue, headaches, low grade fever and a bizarre burning sensation all over my torso (currently affecting my back and underarms/chest sidewall). It's very strange and I'm really struggling to do the basics. Work is a nightmare!
Of course, you always worry that it's cancer and, thanks to Google, I have discovered that some cancers can produce a positive Ana reading. Damn you Google! But when i look at typical symptoms of recurrence they don't match what's currently going on. I guess we can forget that our body can still have other things wrong with it! Not to mention treatment induced conditions.
Anyway, thanks for your support. Wishing you well with the dietician and long term effects clinic x
