Losing and recovering from loss.

You will not ‘get over’ the loss of a beloved partner; you will learn to live with it.

You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered.

You will be whole again but you will never be the same.

Nor should you be the same, nor would you want to be.

Time is a great healer, but time cannot ever take away the pain which will always be hovering in the background.

We learn to smile again,we learn to laugh again,we learn to move forward, but we can never replace what has gone.

How true secrets. x

Hi Roddy, I always liken it to a beloved smashed vase. We pick up all the bits and try to glue them back together again. Eventually we end up with something that looks similar to the way it was before, but the cracks and the glue are still visible. The vase is functional again but never looks quite the same as before. Those who have suffered a big loss hopefully manage to move forward but it is with a new and painful caution, because we know now that the joy of love must end in the pain of loss!
