Hello everyone. My name is James and I’m British. I went to Dubai for Christmas and I caught the virus on the 9th January 2021 and I stayed in a hotel to quarantine for 12 days then I waited further more days to get a negative result. When I got it I returned to UK immediately. I was great the first week since returning on the 24th January but since Monday 1st February I felt SO tired exhausted and lightheaded and a bit dizzy. Has anyone else felt like this since after COVID?? Is it long COVID or what? Hope you can reply!
Thank you! James

Sometimes you can still have symptoms even after you heal from the virus
Hi sorry your still poarly try some chicken broth cook the chicken carcus in water you can look recipies up it's called a magical broth it's good for flu recouparation take care 🤗🌟
Hi James, with any viral illness it's possible to suffer aftereffects for an unspecified amount of time. It's known as post viral fatigue. It's probably a bit soon to call your symptoms 'long Covid' but it is a possibility. I think the important thing is to listen to your body and to rest as much as you can and take notice when you aren't feeling so good.
But if this continues over the next couple of months, it would definitely be best to check with a medical professional as 'long Covid' is being taken seriously and special clinics are now being set up in UK to help sufferers deal with it. Best wishes and I hope you feel better soon.
I left you a message James! Click on your chat please! 👍🤗 Christiane but anybody who has had Covid or suffers with long Covid symptoms might find this website and organisation helpful!🩺🔬👍🤗
Hi James I had the same thing, I developed covid 19 in March last year and recovered in about 10 days but then I repeatedly had what felt like relapses characterised by extreme exhaustion, muscle ache and head fog. It was very severe and brought on by exertion of any sort ( such as cleaning my garden, going for a walk), I’d be feeling almost normal and then it would hit me. I had been fairly fit beforehand and had been on a walking holiday in February when I was walking 6-7 hours a day but after covid even 10-15 mins were wiping me out, It took me a while to recognise the pattern and accept I just had to rest during these relapses and not push my self to much to avoid them coming on. The good news is that I feel I have totally recovered but it did take several months, I did daily yoga and Pilates and gradually by increasing my walking a d being careful to eat healthy take vitamins etc I seem to have fully recovered.
Post viral fatigue. Not a lot you can do for it medically, it’s a case of looking after yourself, optimum nutrition ( cut the processed carbs and sugar) if you eat meat and fish, plenty of chicken and fish, fresh fruit and veg. Rest and read up on pacing. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids ( no alcohol) This way you don’t put additional processing strains on your body, allowing it to take time to heal naturally from good nutrition, rest and just enough movement to keep your circulation and muscles as healthy as possible.
I didn’t break the rules. I left to Dubai on 30th December before they introduced these right lockdown rules so I left just before and I came back 3 weeks later. I was fine 5 days returned but then I became really tired on 1st February since. I didn’t break any rules though just very unlucky
Hi James,I am sorry to hear that you are suffering from longer term effects of Covid, and if indeed it is long covid then it needs to be diagnosed and sooner rather than later and a management plan drawn up as it can have a very detrimental effect on your health. It is more than just a post viral fatigue.
On a personal note, I find it rather curious that you have posted on three different sites on HU asking for guidance and advice now that you have become unwell when the guidance at the time was to only travel for absolute essential purposes and you have clearly stated that you went to Dubai for the purpose of Christmas.
You are posting on some sites where some people have felt unable to leave their homes since last March because they are extremely clinically vulnerable and others, members of communities and families have died as a result of Covid 19. Please consider how your post may make some of us feel.
While I wish you the best of luck in a diagnosis and recovery, I am taken aback that you ask for guidance and help now when you appear to have ignored the rules of lockdown. I am happy to be corrected.
Thank you so much Happytulip. It’s very nice of you and kind of you to give me advice on what I should do. I only left to Dubai on 30th December before the lockdown even started. I didn’t break any rules but I did take a risk. Luckily the symptoms were mild and I had a negative result on returning back to UK 🇬🇧 at the moment it’s just I feel tired and drowsy feeling a little bit not quite my normal self. Don’t think it’s too serious. Just asking for others opinion so I can get a better understanding of what it is exactly. Thank you for your advice though
Actually, at the time, although lockdown was not enforced by law on 30th Dec, it was clear that it was coming and international travel was for essential purposes only. As I said in my previous reply your post may upset some due to deaths within communities, I myself have lost people to Covid who are NHS workers.
Just because something isn't a "rule" doesn't mean we need to ignore common sense and our own moral compass and conscience.
As I said, just my opinion. I am still grieving the loss of some dear friends so I hope you'll understand my viewpoint.
Well James...... I am astounded that you bothered asking advice, you went against all the advice about not travelling, I can only assume you are an idiot!
Over the past couple of months I have lost my stepson, my brother in law and my daughter has lost her fiance(his funeral is tomorrow) my wife and I have been self isolating since mid March last year.
It seems you have been asking questions on various HU sites, what was the point..... after what my family has been through in past months, I was utterly discusted to read your post on here this morning..... I would like to say feel better soon, but what you have done, beggars belief
Fortunately for you, this community is all about encouragement and supporting each other, therefore I hope you feel better soon.
I just followed everyone elses posts, one below the other, I thought thats what you do ..... lets hope he reads it anyway, not that I’m bothered if he doesn’t 😕
Hey James.... crap way to learn a lesson!!! but seen as you’ve gotten yourself into this situation here are a few tips about helping the immune system get back to being healthy -Take a vitamin D3 supplement (most chemists sell them). A simple blood test can tell if your vitamin D levels are low but taking a supplement with out the test won’t hurt anything other than your wallet!
Eat light and healthy because right now the last thing your system needs is sugary foods or junk to deal with.
Rest and sleep more for ‘cell repair’ time.
Light regular/daily exercise but stay off the ‘hardcore’ workouts.
Still stuck at home. I'm in a flare at the moment and am trying to get over it asap as I have my vaccine booked for Saturday and I want to be well enough to have it.
There have been some posts that I have found hurtful as well like ones about getting new jobs and job hunting as I am trying my best but still no luck and those kinds of posts for me feel like a smack in the face!
Catgirl my lovely, ignore negative responses to your posts, if they are negative they are not worth reading, if they are negative, they and not your friends
This is supposed to be a community for encouraging and supporting each other, not putting down!
Maybe put a positive spin on it and think that however frustrating it is to not be working, at least you are healthy enough to be able to look for work? Just a thought. Some of us won't work again.
I'm sure something will turn up eventually. Unfortunately these things take time. Best of luck.
Yes it is frustrating and yes I'm thankful that I'm reasonably fit and well to look for work and one day the stars will align and something will come my way.
Last year without being asked myself and my friends had decided to cancel a weekend away over the may bank holiday ourselves as we decided it was silly and pointless to waste our time and money going to a place with nothing open!
It had been the right thing to do as after that people were told to cancel their bookings with that hotel anyway so it was better to have cancelled a couple of weeks in advance then there was time to find a replacement rather than at the last minute which would have really stung!
I’ve heard many ex Covid patients experiencing symptoms like tiredness, dizziness, breathlessness, amongst others things. Sometimes for many months after.
Could be, but I think it's a bit soon to assume Long Covid. Although it is normal to feel shattered after any bout of flu-like illness, and Covid is part of the same bunch, along with the Common cold; although much more virulent.
Long covid is usually months, not a week or so.
Rest up for a week or so as much as you can, and if it isn't any easier by then, back to your GP. Alternatively you could ring and ask for a phone appointment to discuss how you are feeling, to set your mind at rest.
Cheers, Midori
