Hoping for advice. I had a Oxford jab last Wednesday early morning. Wasn’t feeling so great Thursday and Friday terrible headache, slight temp and arm tender. Felt tons better Saturday morning but last night my arm was very tender and swollen around injection site. My arm woke me early hours of this morning - sore, still swollen and hot to touch plus I was extremely flushed looking - this happened yesterday also when just sat down, not sure if a temp. I was expecting some side affects but only for a day or two. Anyone else had the jab? Felt unwell for longer than 2 days? Leaflet not clear on how long to expect side effects to last. Any responses welcome thanks 😊

Hi my mam was in lot pain for while with her arm and she did feel hot you can get flu symptoms I've known a few get that strangely enough my mam been having bad dizziness on morning since jab maby coincidence as looked up can be sinus she won't see doctor got sudafed tabs she has to be careful on sitting up on morning and she nearly fell in bathroom some coincidences happen did you get a yellow card your soposed to report side effects, hope feel better soon 🤗Mandy
Hi Tracey40,While I had no after-effects whatsoever following the AstraZeneca (Oxford) injection, I'd say that feeling actually unwell for more than two days merits a call to your GP surgery or send an e-consult for a little reassurance. Mild soreness around the injection site for a few more days is safe to ignore, but heat, redness or swelling, no. It's probably still not a matter for concern but you are clearly a bit worried, so best to check with medical professionals.
Hi, Tracey40 .I felt ill for half a week, and did not feel well until a week after the jab - but, as Hidden wrote, local inflammation and heat at the injection site after over half a week would, I think, be cause for concern.
I had mine yesterday and had an allergic reaction with numbing of side of face, lips and tongue.... mild though as I had taken antihistamine for the two days before knowing that I am allergic to several meds and this might happen.... no sore arm, headache etc as of yet! I did also ensure the amount of water I drank was double before and since as I associate headaches with dehydration. I am also a long-term VitD supplement taker as without it my VitD levels are low - so that may have also helped my immune system cope better??
Who knows maybe having had the virus 4 months ago was the thing that has prevented such side effects???
My husband had his last Saturday evening and was really poorly for two days. He then seemed to recover for about 3 and then had a really off day. They expect that most side effects will start to get better after two days but it can last as long as a week. On the NHS SITE it does state that a high temperature is unusual which could mean you have some kind of infection. If it gets worse I would call 111. Hope your will be feeling better soon.
My son aged 23 and healthy had the same . Felt awful for a couple of days - shivery , dizzy and sick .He had 'leftover' Oxford jab as his girlfriend works at a Drs surgery.
Hi Tracey, don't be alarmed. Both my Mum and Aunt both had the Oxford vaccine and had a temperature for 24 hrs, but following the temp they experienced fatigue, nausea and a headache. They symptoms lasted a week and there is evidence in literature to suggest that this does happen to some people.My father and uncle had the same jab and no reaction.
Unless your arm is hot, red, swollen, painful and unable to be used (all the signs of inflammation leading to infection), then I would expect that you are probably having side effects to the vaccine that are bit more severe than most are suffering, but be reassured they do go away. Obviously we can't give out advice but if you care really concerned call your GP. I'm sure the GP nurse could helpfully answer your questions.
On the plus side, if you're having a reaction, however unpleasant, it demonstrates that your immune system has triggered an immune response which is exactly what is supposed to happen. It means that you are getting protection from Covid
Both my Aunt and Mum are now fine and back to normal, but it took it out of them for about a week.
