I liked them both, but I did have a particular fondness for Ronnie Barker's brilliance with wordplay. 🙂🌸

Do you have a favourite sketch? Mine is Griegs piano concerto - by Grieg with Andre Previn.

in reply to Catmad10

Definitely.

I remember that. Of course Barry Cryer wrote a lot of their sketches, he was the genius.

I am still watching repeats on TV. You can see their influence in life now.Oxford has a popular pub called the ‘Fork Candles’ Ronnie Barker opened a shop in my town when he retired, and I never saw him. I respected his wish to retire, but regret it now, it would hve been good to pop in and say hello.

He was a wordsmith, think he got into antiques, but would have thought that if he bought shop he would want people to come in and buy things - all shops need customers.

Yes it was antiques, unfortunately although a small town there were several other antique shops, well established, and it is a hard market to get into. Still I could have peered thought he window and waved...

Oh my goodness what a dilemma I absolutely loved them both but if I had to choose it would be The Two Ronnies I thought they were genius xx

Both for me; although M&W were creaking by then, I still loved their breakfast sketch to 'The Stripper'.

The Ronnies were always hilarious, and I think they have stood the test of time better. Yet my absolute favourite was Dave Allen.

Cheers, Midori
