Nice idea! Thank you for sharing this with us.๐๐๐
But when will it all be over?Dragging on and on.We went from level 2 to 4 in one weekend. Now we are in lockdown again pretty much.Sorry guys not positive atm...cheer me up!
Would you like to talk about anything?
Thanks Activity2004.I was really looking forward to having my son David home for Christmas. He lives in Huddersfield so in level 3 for ever and we're in Surrey. We had to cancel our holiday with him in August when they moved into tier 3 and now this.He hasn't been home since February.Plus my other son lives in Wales and, since he changed jobs recently he'll have no work and no furlough pay. We last saw him months ago as well.We did manage to rescue our daughter from university though.Merry Christmas...more like Bah Humbug!
Oh, Iโm sorry to hear that you wonโt be able to get together with your sons for the holidays. I wish I could get to visit my Grandmother and Aunt this year, but because of COVID19, we are skipping the visits this year until we get the okayโ or after getting the vaccine and COVID19 Is under control. I miss, them, but they donโt want me and my parents to get sick just so we can see them.๐๐๐
I cannot begin to imagine how you feel, but I sense a vague connection. My Mum lives in Huddersfield, where I grew up, living in Waterloo and going to school in Almondbury. I live in West Wales. I have not see her since February. We were first prevented by lockdown. We had been planning to visit her in October, at which point I developed crippling pains in my leg that prevented travel. I phone her every day, when we talk for about an hour with joy, often travelling down Nostalgia Road to my childhood in Huddersfield, talking of my childhood holidays and (at the moment) Christmases past. I cried recently when telling her how much I love her. I don't know where I am going with this . . . but . . . . Huddersfield, a strange place to call paradise but right now I am missing it dearly.
It does feel like itโs dragging on and on!
I just keep trying to remind myself that WE ARE SAVING SO MANY LIVES and that really is the most important thing above all.
I hate to imagine just how bad this would be if we didnโt take any precautions. The numbers are already crippling, but without any mitigation whatsoever, it would be total and complete devastation! Most likely with an exponential rate increase and spread factor that we canโt even fully comprehend.
Things are so tough right now, and for every single one of us too not just some, but we have to try to keep reminding ourselves that if we didnโt do this, there may not be anyone left to celebrate with next year, and that even we ourselves might not be here!
Even though this is the hardest thing that many of us have ever had to face, I am SO PROUD OF US for making these sacrifices for the GREATER GOOD of us all!
And I just want to THANK EACH ONE OF YOU for doing your part to support that because itโs not an easy thing to do. In fact, IT HURTS LIKE HECK! BUT WE GOT THIS!
And when the time does come, you better believe THERE WILL BE A CELEBRATION LIKE ABSOLUTELY NONE OTHER ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE GLOBE!!!
Try to hang in there a little bit longer my friend, and thank you so much for what you are doing! It truly means everything to us all!
Hugs and Best Wishes ๐
I wish I believed that but it seems that this virus is going to keep mutating and getting the better of us.Been reading the government guidance...apparently I shouldn't stand outside my home without a valid reason but I should keep the windows open even though only my household will be in...complete madness!
I love the idea of a world party, but I wonder if we'll feel confident enough, for quite a while after the pandemic, to engage in one big festival. I do think though that it's a brilliant idea to celebrate Christmas at a later date. I like the idea of a big family picnic/barbecue, somewhere lovely, when the sun's shining. Maybe take along a Christmas tree to put presents under, too!
Haha that's a great idea.๐๐๐ฅ๐พCan't wait to hug all my grandchildren too and just have lots of fun and laughter like we used to.
Think we must all try to have hope.
Stay safe everyone
This will end, even the Spanish Flu died out eventually. We have the huge advantage of scientists, modern medicines and technology and vaccines. We just have to hope weโre not lacking collective responsibility. I think anyone refusing the vaccine on a whim ( the โI read on Facebook there a chip in itโ brigade ) is little short of criminal. We all have a duty to protect others, not just ourselves and 90% vaccination will ensure the virus has nowhere to go.
Until this happens we just to look at this as a blip in our social contacts. Weโre lucky in having phones, FaceTime, Zoom, Skype et al, even 20 years ago weโd have had huge limitations.
Please, everyone, encourage everyone you know to get vaccinated when itโs their turn. Vaccination beat polio, diphtheria, rubella, smallpox etc...
we can do this and then have the party to beat all parties.
A huge party would be lovely ๐ What would be even better is for everyone to carry on being kind to each other ๐๐ xx
What about an extra day's Bank Holiday at Easter?
I like the idea but cant imagine there being a particular day when we can say it's gone. It's not like the end of WW2 is it! It will fizzle out and, like having ataxia, the acceptance will be gradual ... we will adapt to our new life and treasure our memories. I'm 78 with CA and dont know when or how I will die .. I just thank heavens I have a loving family and the internet. xx

I'm not looking that far into the future!
My eyes are on the vaccines, that gives me the best hope. I can't think beyond that.
When my two sisters [and nephew] have their vaccine injections, then we are going to have a party, mouldy crackers included!๐๐๐๐
I want one very simple thing, hugs with my close friends. I think we're always going to have this now hence needing the vaccine like the flu one. Once a significant amount of people have been vaccinated wecan then get back to some kind of normality.
