I heard about that and I had a feeling they would pull the plug at the last minute and I bet you were gutted hearing that as its a real smack in the face when you are looking forward to something and then told at the last minute no it's not happening at you get attached to plans and dream about them and it can be devastating getting the plug pulled at the last minute as no it won't be going ahead after all!

I just knew they would do that which is why we decided to save ourselves the upset and not bother and it looks like we made the right decision!

We were gutted back in September when we found out our September and autumn plans wouldn't be happening as well but learned from the experience and decided not to plan anything say like Christmas until things settle down and then perhaps do so again at that time.

How right we were!

We we’re only going up the road to daughter’s but granddaughter and great-grandchildren would have been there too. Going to meet daughter on the beach for a glass of champagne! Unless it’s banned!

It spreads much, much faster, but at this stage is not appearing to be more virulent ( fingers crossed that is true) and the vaccine will impact it in the same way as the previous virus! Phew!

This doesn't surprise as they are good at doing things in the last minute!! But I think lives will be saved which can only be a good thing. All my love Lynne xxxx ❤️💜

One thing that winds me up something chronic is when you are led to believe that you are getting something and then at the last minute no you aren't and it feels like an office door has been slammed shut in your face!

Hopefully lives will be saved. And the positive- we can always use Bazzak's hot tub😁🐰

I know it is really for the best but ....!

Lol, I see you are taking this as on the chin as best you can Hylda. I don't suppose we'll be far behind as I know I'm geographically quite close to you. My Christmas has hereby been cancelled too, because although I stay in tier 2 for now, my daughter moves into tier 4 so visits are off! Hey ho and cheers to the grinch who stole Christmas whoever or whatever you consider that to be! 😃

in reply to

I bet you are absolutely gutted as you were really looking forward to seeing your daughter over Christmas and Chelsea the British blue.

Back in September I was heartbroken when the autumn and September plans were cancelled and I used it as a lesson not to plan anything for Christmas and it was the right decision as I just knew they were going to pull the plug at the last minute.

Hi catgirl1976, I'm a bit heartbroken not to be able to see Chelsea especially. It's been a long while, but we shall catch up soon I'm sure. My poor daughter was quite upset. Unfortunately I broke the news to her not knowing she didn't know and it caught her off-guard, but she's resigned to it now and we can have a celebration later when hopefully, the virus will be on the run once more. I know you had a hard time in September when this was first put forward as a possibility, but in a way, now, maybe it's a good thing that it's given you time to prepare yourself. I think we'll all be fine. In a few days it'll all be behind us anyway! Take care and enjoy yourself in any way you can!

in reply to

Now time has passed I'm glad I was heartbroken back in September as it was a lesson learned in not getting my hopes up over anything but I was sorry for those who did though and got stung!

I'm not surprised your daughter was upset as its not nice when you look forward to things and then at the last minute it's snatched away from you.

I found back in September that crying did me the power of good in getting the emotions out.

Kasar will be getting his mummy to himself then!

Thanks Hylda, in tier 4 also.I'm absolutely gutted and I will never watch another daily briefing ever..they just get your hopes up.

Yes I'm in tier 4 too. Gutted but I've learned not to hope for anything these days. I'm not surprised about the new strain as viruses do mutate but just as the vaccine was starting to get rolled out and we had something to be optimistic about we get knocked back again.

in reply to MadBunny

Same with me that was a valuable lesson I learned back in September when I was heartbroken over the cancelled September and autumn plans not to go getting my hopes up over anything and now I'm glad I was heartbroken as it saved me from the grief of getting my hopes up over Christmas plans and it would have stung a lot harder if I had made them and them not happening had I not been heartbroken back in September over the autumn things and learned from it.

All I was hoping for was to spend some time with our son.We were also disappointed in the summer as he was coming on holiday with us only to be locked up in tier 3 for months and now this.It is cruel to get people's hopes up so no more news briefings for me.

in reply to lettingoffsteam

I was gutted for the tier 4 people as well and I wasn't surprised when I found out and had switched off the TV in disgust!

Best thing to do.Do you know the government website tells us in tier 4 not to leave our homes or even be outside our homes without a valid reason? It says when you do go out stay in your own town.I feel like I'm living in a police state!

in reply to lettingoffsteam

I thought two of you were allowed to go for a walk. That’s all I need. 😥

Well you can do that as it's a valid reason apparently but 'keep it local'.It's strangely worded as I rarely step outside my house randomly!🤣

It is extremely difficult for socially active people, to be isolated, for any lengthy amount of time, especially when mandated by the government, because it implies strict government control, over one’s activities, with others. In this particular instance, we need to look at the science, of why health authorities, are so adamant, in their request to isolate! Perhaps, thinking about the spread of the plague, years ago, and it’s contagion effect, along with it’s gruesome death count, will give us some insight, into why we need to isolate. Another contagion ailment, that is very scary to think about, is that if Ebola spread like COVID-19, and became an uncontrollable pandemic, governments and health officials, around the world, would have to put in place, strict isolation measures, including full body Personal Protective Equipment, to get it under control, because of the serious threat to mankind, and the propitiation of our species. So, when you look at it, from that viewpoint, one can realize that this is not done, to create a police state, but, rather, to stop a killer disease, that has the capability of causing untold human death and misery, world wide!

Snap. Just unpacked our cases 😢

Am told there was a road block on the road into our area this morning stopping tier 2 people coming in. Neighbour’s son was going out to work at hospital.

Hello Hylda

Very sorry to hear that many of you will be going into tier 4. I did not know there was a tier 4, thought it ended at tier 3. Blessings and have a Merry Christmas.

in reply to Big_Dee

Thank you. If it goes on much longer we’ll be in tier 24!

Hello Hylda

I was reading the history of Viking invasion of England last night. It is ironic that London was a banding of people for protection and needs to be disbanded for their protection. Have a Merry Christmas and may it bring you some measure of joy.

Daughter delivering meals on wheels so we’ll be fine. Try and enjoy it yourself!

I’m tier 4 too. I had planned to cook Christmas dinner for myself and my son but as he broke our support bubble last week, I already knew I’d be spending Christmas on my own. Will be chatting on the phone with a couple of friends who will also be having a solitary Christmas and I'm planning to start a new craft project , so as long as I can still pick up my new reading glasses from the opticians when they’re ready, I might even be able to see to sew my new project without stabbing myself with the needle! 😂

in reply to ArctoLindy

Oh no! I have an optician’s appointment too, but can’t see if they are still open or not. Need more contact lenses, if I take my mask off and I’m wearing my glasses my hearing aids fly across the room. 🙄

I would imagine that opticians are classed as an essential service 🤞
