I'll take all of those wiserlady so long as I'm not cooking them! I don't know why, but whatever I cook on a Sunday, I can't eat. But if anyone else placed any of those in my place setting, I'd be happy to see any of them!

I can relate to that. For so many years I struggled to eat Sunday dinner. But these days since my husband retired and I have got him cooking, he makes the best Sunday roast, especially the roasties 😋

Roast beef and all the trimmings for me. 😋

Vegan curry for me but it has to be eaten in the evening as I can't stomach a meal at lunch.

are you fussy about your pies and your mash? i love it too, but it has to be the best with all butter pastry, proper mash with lots of milk and butter etc

My fave has to be roast beef, cooked a big joint yesterday and will hopefully freeze it with gravy, will do quite a few meals.

i sometimes prepare a dozen or so meals for freezer

Lizard28 profile image
Lizard28 in reply to wiserlady

That’s me, I batch cook all the time, hate doing small amounts. I biggest dread is the freezer breaking down, I have two and they are usually quite full x

ive got three very large cabinet freezers and one which is smaller - and we still struggle to find space to put shopping

Anything. My husband was in the police force and in the early days worked shifts. He had one Sunday off a month, so we never got into the roast pattern. Still don’t know if we are going to daughter’s for Christmas but could always have curry for Christmas lunch. x

I know what that is like - our choice of career can affect how much free time we have, I used to work 9 am till 11 pm seven days a week with no days off at all, not even Christmas day, would be lucky to be able to eat a cheese sandwich without any interruptions

maybe you could have a few frozen meals ready and then decide?

Roast beef would be first answer but I love them all. My husband chooses and cooks for us and I always enjoy it. Patsy x

hi Patsy, my guy cooks our roasts too, very nice roast potatoes

we dont often have potatoes, pasta or bread only on special occasions but I do buy those little frozen yorkshires. I make individual jellies with frozen mixed berries [6 at a time] and we have one of those after lunch with yoghurt/soya cream. I have half a small glass of red wine most days too. 😃 Christmas day we have pigs in blankets and stuffing balls and trifle rather than just jelly .. cooked breakfast too .. I shall have to do more than usual 10 minutes exercise on my vibroplate 🤣

I was seriously over weight few years ago and it was getting ridiculous, but ive got an underactive thyroid and small lung capacity makes it hard for me to exercise etc. i managed to lose nearly three stone so am under the "OBESE" rating now. its hard when you like your food a lot.

wow you should be so proud of yourself .. I make a special effort not to get obese as I am sure I couldnt lose it like you have done, well done .. have you got a pedaller or something to help you burn calories? x

wiserlady in reply to PatsyIpswich

hi Patsy, it took me about 18 months to lose the weight. I did it by skipping breakfast. skipping a lunch every other day or so. no snacks. smaller meals.

PatsyIpswich profile image
PatsyIpswich in reply to wiserlady

It's the snacks that are my downfall .. icelollies, crisps etc but you have to keep your spirits up eh? x

wiserlady profile image
wiserlady in reply to PatsyIpswich

yes - i love crisps - which are bad for your stomach lining - and full of salt - nd all sorts of other things - its telling yourself that if you dont have them you will be a pound lighter tht did it for me, and doing tht over and over again

quiche and salad or shepherds pie and veg, not bothered about roast beef and wouldn't want fish n chips for sunday dinner

If someone else is cooking I’ll have roast potatoes, veg and a nut roast. If I’m cooking it myself.............. a bowl of soup ( made in soup maker using frozen veg) or a baked potato and cheese!

Fish, and Chips, :) but I would make air fried or baked sweet potato chips, and the fish would be made the same way. :|
