What hobbies has everyone taken up this year?

Now that the weather is colder I need some new hobbies outside of just working while I'll be stuck indoors by myself. I would love to hear what others have done to bring joy to their days during isolation.

I started juicing celery and cucumber. Getting better at it. Like, I will juice a whole bunch and put it in jars for a few days instead of trying to do it everyday and then cleaning the juicer too. This way I don't have to do it as much! These give me energy to do other things. I'm trying to learn to solve problems instead of just fixing them. Been thinking a lot.

Knitting and writing

Hi Indiegal, I don't know what your current interests are, but if you haven't tried it, and like crafts, how about journaling? There's lots about it and many ideas on YouTube which is how I got started during lockdown as a sort of deviation from my card making, as, suddenly, I found I had little interest in creating new ones.In journaling it's possible to lose yourself more because the results are for your own pleasure so you don't need to be precise. Have fun! 👩‍🎨🎨🖌

Yes. You can also use all sorts of materials which are special to you and don't cost the earth. Theres quite a lot of ideas and materials on the Hochanda craft channel too.

Like you I ve list interest in card making. I did make my Xmas cards but wasn't as enthusiastic as usual.

I definitely agree MadBunny. There's so much stuff around the house already which can be repurposed and I get donations from friends of unwanted magazines, old books etc., for free too! I think I might have heard of Hochanda, but anyway, I'll definitely give it a try. Yes, I think it was definitely the pandemic that dampened my enthusiasm for card making this year. Hopefully by next Christmas........ 😃

I'd hoped to start re-teaching myself to knit but arthritis in my right hand is making that too uncomfortable. However, a few months into the self-quarantine, I began printing out new recipes and trying outat least one new one each week.

Doing this has become something to look forward to and also gives a lift to the day. I add the new favorites to a three-ringed notebook and by now have collected quite a good selection for meats, veggies, fruits, snacks and a few desserts. Already have more than needed in the "sweets" categories. Smiles

I actually used to bake a lot, even had a side business doing it. Unfortunately I had to stop all sweets for a bit because of some health reasons. Hopefully if I get better I can treat myself with some baking. 😋

I took up crochet and started making a blanket made up of flower shapes. It's a project you can do as much or as little of as you wish. I stopped in the summer but have just picked it up again. I also do cross stitch I hadn't done it for ages but started it again to make a small birthday present.Im now making some Xmas decs.

Have tried to learn crochet. As a child I taught myself from book so I hold the crochet hook like a knitting needle.

Am having glorious fun going on the internet and learning new stitches ,so far my creations include a lopsided scarf ,a half finished teddy who has somehow sprouted an extra arm and a reindeer with only one antler (cos I ran out of wool)!

Mine is definitely more exercise, it makes me feel so good.

Love the ideas. I was thinking of taking up knitting again. I took a stab at it a couple years ago but didn't stick with it. It might be a good time to try again. I also could start exercising again since I've put on some Covid weight and haven't done much since I stopped hiking when the weather got cold. Thanks everyone!
