We canned a bunch of tomatoes from our garden for pasta sauce, as well as salsa. One of my favorites. Took most of the day but is worth it for later in the winter.
As we were working a friend dropped off her excess veggies for us to process.
Sheesh. I was hoping for a day off.
My hands are still burning a bit from cutting up the peppers.
This is our outdoor canning area along with the wood fired bread oven where all kinds of good things happen. The garden is in the background.
Bread, pizza, bagels, beans, roasts, pies, and more.
There is an orange hue which might not show up in the photo from the smoke in the air from our fires.
While in way Northern California year’s ago the smoke came down to the ground, it was about 111F, and high humidity. It lasted all summer.
Eyes and throat burned if one was to spend too much time outside.
Now and then we would go swimming or kayaking in the lake nearby only to be interrupted by helicopters scooping up buckets of water to dump on the fires.
Didn’t normally happen years ago. These days it seems to be a routine thing.
Now it is almost 1730 and almost totally dark from the smoke. Sunset is supposed to be at around 2000.
Hope everyone had a good day.
