Here's a view of the mountains from my yard

It's actually just a few of them as seen over the roofs of the neighbors places. The photo is zoomed in, but it's only 3 miles (5K) from my house, and the peaks shown are at about 7800' (when you subtract the elevation, the "hills" are 1.1 K tall from the valley floor where the town is).

This picture was taken in early spring after a dusting of fresh snow overnight.

So beautiful. The air must be so good where you live Wallowa. It would help us with dodgy lungs.

It's very dry and clear.

Out of interest Wallowa, is there an illness common to your particular area of the country?

I ask as many older people in the UK who suffer with particular kinds of lung diseases often lived in old coal mining areas. My particular lung disease was caused most probably by whooping cough as a child. Farmers often suffer with something called farmers lung.

It's interesting and a fact that during the lockdown we recently had for 3 months, it was noticeable how the air became cleaner as factories and industry were shut and very few cars were on the roads.

That's a stunning picture Wallowa. You're very fortunate to live in such a beautiful, unspoilt place. Thanks for the puzzle, I enjoyed it as usual. xx

The other nickname for this place is "the end of the road".

Beautiful 😀

And you could see the ‘ackney marshes if it wasn’t for the ‘ouses in-between.

All I have to do is go 1/2 mile and there's nothing in the way. I was just being lazy when I took that picture! :) :) :)
