I'm more of a runner than a gardener , but out of all the plants in the garden this is the oldest . It's in its 10th year and this time I decided to capture it growing 😊

Oh, Heaven! I adore hostas and have quite a number of them. I think all different specimen leaves make a fabulous show. Yours is an absolute beauty and one of mine looks very similar though not quite as big yet. How do you stop the slugs eating yours? Most of mine are in pots and I go out looking fir snails every night. As its rainy again they will be back tonight and I will be waiting for them.

Cheers. 😊

The slugs don't seem to bother with the plant for some reason but they did eat other plantsπŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Strange the slugs never seem to bother with it. 😊

We use to have a bit of bother with slugs on other plants but they never seemed to bother with this one 😊

I like hostas Buddy34 and so useful in cooler areas in the garden that other plants won't tolerate well. Those are some fine specimens!πŸ˜ƒ

Looks great. Glad you dont have a slug problem. What a fantastic idea to take shots of it growing.

I love hostas, we have far too many but they are so easy. I just wished they didn't sleep over winter and leave gaps in the garden. We have one like yours but not as 'mature'. I do however use slug pellets but might try the eggshells next.

Last year I wanted another one but couldn't find any local. There was someone selling small plants on ebay so I sent for it. It was a very fresh looking small plant on arrival and was well soaked. It was planted and then someone decided to pour wildflower powdered seeds around it and it seemed to get strangled. So as we were getting the garden organized for this year I noticed something familiar, the hosta was growing again in a totally different place. I'm not sure maybe some soil was moved around or something . So I now have a second hosta now and will move it when it dies down 😊

We downsized about eighteen months ago and so brought with us the ones in pots which have all adapted well in the garden. We bought a few extras to fill up some gaps

and recently ordered 10 from a gardening company online which we hope will arrive quite soon. There are quite a few different varieties and they complement each other well with the different markings and colours. I actually prefer greenery to flowers so these 'fit in' very well.

What company did you buy from?

We ordered from Gardening Express and there have been a few articles in the press recently about people who have not received their orders. However we have been contacted every week saying that they are working their way through all the orders and we were warned when placing the order it could take up to six weeks.

We also ordered some plants from The Daily Mail garden shop which we have been pleased with.

I've ordered loads of gardening bits off ebay too.

Because we are shielding we can not go off to our regular garden centres so are doing the best we can.

If you have any online suppliers that you can recommend do let me know.
