I love cooking and Iโve been on the hunt for new flavours from around the world. Iโm quite new to Ras el Hanout and now Iโve discovered Berbere which is an Ethiopian mix of spices. So tonight I made this Ethiopian Stew. Here is a link to it for anyone who is interested or plant based/vegan.
I'm not vegan but that looks good. On the website you linked there is an African peanut soup that sounds good too. I love anything with the peanuts, especially Pad Thai.
Honestly it was delicious. I haven't had Berbere before so was looking forward to trying it. Yes I like the crunch you get with peanuts and I absolutely love thai food ๐
It looked absolutely delicious Ali and my kind of food! I'll definitely give this a go!
Oh thanks for that Ali. I was actually just looking up the spices and how to make my own Berbere. But I'd rather get it ready made for my first attempt, then I could maybe experiment with a mix of my own later. ๐
Thank you for sharing Ali. I've seen the photo and it looks scrummy ๐๐๐
My father was the last generation of engineers to work in what was the colonies, I was born in West Africa, and have very fond memories of Ground Nut Stew (peanuts) and Goat Curry. Keep meaning to try the Ground Nut Stew myself.
OMG I saw that recipe ages ago and fancied Trying it - I meant to copy it, But forgot about it - so Iโve copied it now and will try it soon๐. Iโm on a whole foods plant based diet (plus fish) so itโs fantastic to find new recipes ... THANKS SO MUCH for posting ๐๐
Thanks so much for that link. Iโve only just had a Quick look now - And it looks great. Iโll have a proper look when Iโve got more time as Iโm sure thereโll be lots of great stuff in there. Thanks again๐๐
The ras el hanout and the Berbere? Iโd love to know what recipes you use them with. Iโve had Ras el hanout With vegetable chilli so far but thatโs all??
I use the Ras el Hanout in morrocan dishes, the familyโs favourite is Lamb Tagine. I use the Berbere as a rub on a beef joint and slowly pot roast it to develop the flavours.
