I had an exciting day yesterday. My birthday's approaching and my daughter and granddaughter were determined to try to make it as special for me as is possible during lockdown. So they travelled 70 miles to meet me for a picnic in a nearby park.
It was very surreal sitting so far apart, and by arrangement we'd made our own picnics but using the same recipes! My daughter's birthday is in a couple of weeks too, so we had a gift exchange in the no-man's land between us and it felt almost like a prisoner exchange in a spy novel.
We sat for a very long time until it was almost dark and the air was chilly, and then reluctantly waved goodbye, but despite the oddness of it all, it was a real lift to the spirits to meet up with loved ones.
And with that in mind, here's today's quotation from Mahatma Gandhi.
"There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart."
Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

It’s strange times indeed but I’m so glad you got to have time and a picnic with your loved ones and your description of prisoners in a spy novel is spot on. That’s how I felt on Friday when I met my partner.., we sat far apart and exchanged food but put it in the middle so we still ate but far apart!
Travelling 70 miles must have felt like an epic journey it must have been wonderful for you all to see each other. What a lovely treat to go for a picnic and the weather was just great yesterday. The quote you have used today is so very true. Have a Happy Birthday when it does approach. 🌻🌼🌷
That's so lovely that even though times are difficult at present you made it into a positive. I'm so glad you got to spend quality time in the presence of your family. Just seeing them does certainly lift the spirits.
I hope you and your daughter have lovely birthdays and are able to see each other again.
Stay safe and well.

I'm so pleased you were able to meet up. How nice of your daughter to drive all that way to see you.
I can't wait to see everyone but I've got to wait until the end of June. We had a quiz night on zoom last last night, it was brilliant!!! Xxxx❤️🌈🤗💜

Where there's a will, there's a way Lynne! Not quite the same as a real meeting up, but nearly as good! 💖 xxx

Yes, it was great, can only see like this but at least we can see them. I can't imagine what it must have been like in World War Two when they hadn't a clue what was happening to their loved ones. Take care and stay safe Lynne xxxx ❤️🤗🌈💜
So pleased for you to have seen your son Jerry. One thing all of this has taught us is how happy it makes us to be with our families! 👍🌈😊🙏
Thank god the rules are getting more & more relaxed -exciting news for those like me who are in vulnerable risk category
I think that's absolutely lovely! I haven't seen my mother in such a long time. I'm glad you made it special, all of you, and I love that you made the same picnic recipes. Nice quotation, too.
Thank you Bella_Figura!😊🙏
Thanks KarenF8463. It's my actual birthday tomorrow but Saturday was a good day for us to be able get together!
