Came to stay with my Dad prior to lockdown and have been doing OK but beginning to struggle now. He is 94 has early dementia but doesn't understand what's happening. I've been finding it hard to get him to wash his hands for example and I catch him just wiping his hands on the towel! I am trying to keep separate towels &c. It's made more difficult by the fact that I have Coeliac disease so I keep food and utensils separate too. Again, he doesn't understand and it's all getting a bit overwhelming. Next week, I have a hospital appointment and they have asked me to self isolate for the week so I don't know how I'll cope if I can't get out to run and blow off my frustrations.
Just wanted to get it off my chest.

"Self-isolation" implies not leaving the house... ¿but that is "Shielding"?
I can walk without any risk of getting within 2 metres of anyone... it seems ridiculous how people walk down the middle of busy roads to avoid getting within 2m of anyone on the pavement.
Hi there, it must be a very difficult time for you at the moment. Being a carer holds many responsibilities and can be a very tough job to do in normal times. The added difficulties of the situation we are in now, makes any minor problems, huge. Help is difficult at the moment with regards to getting any respite care currently. I am sure you are doing a brilliant job for your father. Facing difficulties and being confined frustration is bound to surface at times, this is only natural. You might have already taken a look at this site but I'll give you the details anyway in case it maybe of any help to you. 👍😊 dementiauk.org/get-support/...
Thanks Jerry, I had started doing Couch to 5K so had a look at the recommended exercises to do on the intervening days. I might have to repeat the week I've just completed before I progress to the next.
As to the self isolation it is just as a precaution I think. It's a Nuffield hospital in Glasgow which is seeing NHS referrals at the moment and it's a post breast cancer issue...
That's really sad Ts. I can understand your frustrations and how difficult it must be for you. Whatever happens, I hope it works out well for you and that your hospital appointment goes well too. All the best. xx
