Lucky Black cat!

Moved a telephone directory on the desk by my door, it fell over, 💥did not notice, that one button, turned off my internet and phone with one click! Over an hour checking lines, connections, my anti virus could not find the trouble, turned things off, tv was still working, I sat down then saw a black cat out in the hall, I had left the back door open, a bit of fresh air, I chased him/her out, then I noticed my four lights were out on the router by the front door, click! everything back to normal! My lucky black cat! In that hour I realised, I had no mobile phone, no other communication, if I had become sick, I am in seventh week of isolation, I had no way of alerting anybody? Makes me really realise how fragile I am, I depend on two sisters [just a phone call away and the internet!] WHEW!

Yes ironic thing, never seen that particular cat before, there is a black cat up the road 'Sparkie' but much bigger, must have been a feral cat, it was late at night, after mucking around with the computer? Spooky?

Not spooky at all, it’s lovely to think you are being looked after 🤗

I guess black cats can be somewhat lucky after all!

Of course, dogs are luckier than cats. Because they were born as dogs.

I hate dogs, I sometimes have to go to other side of street, from them, I am definitely a cat person!

What has made you hate dogs?

I always had, I am one of those people that prefer cats, I have had dogs put onto me but I always out stare them, noisy dumb creatures, cats have their own way of thinking, some can be very intelligent and I can appreciate that!

That’s how it works. Dog people and cat people. I can tolerate a cat, and we have had a few good ones, as long as it isn’t too cat like.

I can understand that about dogs. Big, noisy, messy, boisterous, slobbery, and all that.

They are my first love though.

My thoughts go with you on this, I have lost count of how many times I have picked up my router to dust and pressed the switch on it taking out my internet, then there is of course the upset caused by power cuts . My alarms not working properly but can't have the service engineer out to reset due to sheilding regulations. So when he comes for routine he will have to replace the battery backup again.

I have a good mate that fixes my computers, known him for 15 years, although he can be a bit 'late' sometimes, seem to be on a good broadband company now, the last two were real headache causers, one of first things I check, battery power on new laptop, one of my sister's lives five minutes walk away, but in the middle of 12 week isolation period cannot even go to her?

Yes it is more difficult during the 12 week isolation for us. But I am sure we will get by but we need our computers to keep contact along with our phones.

I'm a real 20th century guy, although being a historical/genealogical researcher been using them since 1998, still prefer the written word, suppose could use smoke signals [sorry about that had to just use phone for dentist there?] sister five minute walk away! Yuck technology!

My family don't live that near, my granddaughter works around ten minutes drive away normally . My daughter is an halve hours bus ride away, and my sister is 75 miles away. My youngest son is in Australia. My sister and I are the only two family left in our line . Makes me feel old when I say that.

I have three sisters and one brother, I'm in the middle, we all grew up in this town in Norn Irelan as us locals say! I was the only one that stayed, one sister her husband died, the other lived in London, but she missed her Ulster Fry and came back home. Now there are three of us within half an hours distance. I am retired early due to bad health. My eldest sister lives in Cornwall, a bit of a hermit with her husband, my brother lives in South Wales, with his wife and foster kids. Makes me old when I say that? BUT despite all that and me bad health and my isolation against Coronavirus, I would LOVE to emigrate, sounds a bit mad does'nt it?

Thats nice to hear you are of Irish origin, I have family connections in Ireland. I always had a dream to move to a cottage with roses round the door, now I would be satisfied with a ground floor flat or small bungalow health reasons of course. Not having much luck I am afraid. Your dream of emigrating is not mad but like my cottage maybe hard to do. Other countries want healthy people as do insurances and travel companies. Where do you want to emigrate to?, I have lots of family in Australia as my brother went there on the £10 passage many years ago and some family in USA. Just had a new addition in OZ little girl to my nephews family. My brother & wife are no longer with us as are many of my late husbands family. We are in a new generation now. Time to make the most of it I guess as soon as things change. Its Sunny here enjoy your day.

That was a lucky black cat for you! Glad you are back to normal. It's a heart dropping moment when all of your communication goes down, I know. And maybe it would be a good thing to put some kind of emergency procedure into place so you aren't left needing help at any time. Maybe that someone will check on you if they haven't heard from you in x amount of time?
