Stars and blossoming fruit-trees: utter permanence and extreme fragility give an equal sense of eternity.

Only problem with this beautiful phrase is that stars are not permanent either: they are born, shine shine shine, then they explode in a glorious supernova, and die.

But to us, mere specks, they seem Eternal.

There is however beauty in this phrase, as trees will blossom again every Spring, and stars will be reborn, out of the dust and debris of supernovas.

This whole cycle of birth death and rebirth, is indeed, Eternal, and uplifting.

Sorry Woody...this shielding business tends to affect me this way....but thank you for that lovely quote.

Stay safe,

so I'm wondering if you read the title of the post. I'm glad you can appreciate the beauty of the thought. it just struck me when I read it that we can be so sure of our facts. Until time teaches us to change what we believe. That's why I added the year of the authors death to the post.

Yes woody, of course I read the title, we "believed".....

And yes, time and experience, are sometimes cruel teachers.

We become jaded.

But then as I have noted, the cycle itself is, indeed, Eternal; therein lies the beauty of this phrase.

forgive me , your first sentence suggested that i was unaware that stars are not eternal. why do you characterize time and experience as ‘sometimes cruel teachers’?

woody woody woody, I do not characterize time and experience as always being cruel teachers, where did you get this notion from?

I did say 'sometimes', didn't I?

Have you heard about the school of hard knocks?......

Some folks are graduates of this school. They have learned their lesson the hard way.

stay safe,

I found it and google fr:

Etoiles et fruits en fleurs :

une permanence totale et une fragilite extreme

donnent un sens egual de l'eternite.
