Lifiting my spirits

My daughter's mad and beautiful black labrador just lifted my spirits by doing four circuits of my front garden while my daughter was depositing supplies on the doorstep and I watched from an upper window. He was so carefree and happy I felt really cheered by it.

I love animals full stop! My cat of 21 years had to be put to sleep before Christmas.I was broken hearted. My dog, very old, put to sleep as he had dementia. I have to confess I so miss having an animal in my life.

Go to the pound, wear your mask, stay 6 feet away from worker, Lots and Lots of dog and cats up for a loving home, they often have older dogs, that are already trained, so you do not have to go thru puppy stage if you do not want to. All their animals are spayed and neutered, have had the shots, think how good this will make you feel....I would not be without my cats, had them for 50 years, I hope I live long enough to out live them as I will be 78 next month!!! I wish you happyness, peace and love.....Sprinkle 1.....

Oh I'd have another like a shot. My health won't allow me to unfortunately. I have never been without a pet all of my life up until now. I am contemplating having another cat but I have to think hard before making a commitment.

I support both the cat, dog and donkey charities but I really appreciate your interest in animals too.

Cheers, Chrys ๐Ÿ˜Š

Our health won't allow us either RR. Shame as I wouldn't hesitate. I swore when we lost our girl in 2013 that I would never have another (she was our fifth) but after these last few years, I really miss the love and company.

It's only if you have experienced having the love and companioship of an animal that you understand the pain felt when you lose them.

So comforting there are so many animal lovers on the forum.

The pain goes so deep dosen't it, it's like things will never be the same again - almost as if you have lost a part of oneself.

Unfortunately not an option. I have arthritis which prevents me from being able to walk a dog - even without lock down restrictions - my hands aren't strong enough to hold a lead and I can't walk very far. But I have enjoyed dog company for much of my life and under normal circumstances I would see much more of my daughter's dog.

It's not easy when they go, they are family.

They really are, so much in fact. It's so hard.

Very true.

These things always happen just before Christmas don't they?

A colleague at my old job was heartbroken after they had their border collie Sheba who was 14 to sleep as she was part of their family.

Its always hard to take losing a pet no matter what creature it is!

We could learn a lot from our canine companions. They live in the moment, never turn down the opportunity to run free and blow off steam , they forgive and forget and are loyal friends.๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•

Sorry you cannot have a dog, how about and older cat? Like I said I have had cats for 50 years, my favorite "Mouse" was so fantastic, never had a cat like him or after him. I had him cremated and he is going in the box with me when I go. It still hurts to think of him sometimes, most of the time brings smiles, I have his and many other cats photo's on my wall in my office, he has been gone since 1996, I still dream of him. I went into a clinical depression after I had to part with him, he was part of my soul. I have loved many and cherish the memory's.

I support Alley Cat with a monthly donation. They are Big on TNR, and have saved countless lives. A million cats are euthanized each year in shelters. We have to stop this waste of life. I wish you well, sending good health, wisdom, peace and love with hugs.....Sprinkle 1......one of my cats is name Sprinkle, she was dumped on my deck one night as a kitten, the other one Zebra was born feral in my back garden in Calif......

I would like a cat but I live in a first floor flat and I do like to think of cats as free spirits who can come and go as they want and that really wouldn't be possible here. However, I see my younger daughter's cat - a beautiful Maine Coone with a big personality- when I Skype her in Norway. When they travel - in normal times - to their fjordside cabin he goes out in the boat with them , complete with cat's lifejacket - wish I had the skills to send you a picture but I'm only semi literate on with IT.

Thank you for your reply, some cats are like people "Home Body's", check with your shelter, if you want a cat, you may find a "home body" available....Love N Hugs .......Sprinkle 1......:-) :-) :-)
