Over the past couple of days I've seen lots of people using Winston Churchill's famous WW2 speech that begins "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few", referring to the efforts of Royal Air Force pilots at a time of national peril.
It's been posted lots, admirably, as a support for our wonderful NHS staff, but I've seen its been posted such a lot that I thought I'd offer up some alternate words from Winston Churchill, on the subject of courage, instead.
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."
So many are showing such courage to help us to defeat Covid-19. So this is for every single one of us, including our fabulous NHS staff. For some it's just following unpalatable rules, including our brave kids who are all are living in a strange new way, and for everyone who continues to turn up for their ordinary everyday jobs, like supermarket staff, who are also exposed to lots of danger.
Well done everyone. We are coming together in a way that wouldn't have been believed this time last year.
Please be safe and stay well, but please also try to remain happy and positive. We will defeat this together.
