Small blood vessels in the eye, if the white part is blood shot you are ok I think if the blood goes over the retina that poses more of a problem. I have had many large and small bleeds, I have used pred drops over a few days. You some times get a bleed when you lower your steroids and the specialist told me you may top up with drops if this occurs! Hope this is of some use!

I have experienced burst blood vessels in my eyes on several occasions whilst being on steroids and one morning I awoke with both eyes being affected at the same time - I looked fit for Halloween! I got them checked out by the optician, especially as I use drops for glaucoma, and he assured me it was nothing to worry about, although we did decide that I should reduce my intake of garlic for a while in case it was thinning my blood too much.

Hi Steph,

If you have ANY interference with your vision after being diagnosed with PMR or PMRGCA then get straight to A&E. You cannot risk losing your vision. Interference, i.e. black dots, floaters or general deteriation in your sight, OR headaches around you eye area, especially if they extend down into your jaw area. Might I add, ANY bad headaches. Don't risk your sight. If you're tested and you're OK, then great, but don't take the risks. We have a national health system. Make use of it. It's your right! The outcome of going blind can effect a person's ability to cope with life.

I know. I've seen people lose their sight in later life and sometimes it's been catastrophic.

Hi Pats

Found it - I agree with your comments, had my eyes tested last Weds and absolutely no issues, eyes are still ok no blurring, slight double vision, spasmodic, but this is something I have with migraine and it goes. I still have the head pain, just in the left temple, not radiating down to the jaw, but as I said in the last email I think some of it is the brusing. Not sure the Co-prox is the best pain relief??

Weight is dropping off at the mo though, lost half a stone in last 7/10 days - absolutely no appetite!! Mind you not complaining, needed to shed a little...

Many thanks

I seriously think you should go to your nearest A&E and tell them you have PMR and are experiencing

"slight double vision, spasmodic, but this is something I have with migraine and it goes. I still have the head pain, just in the left temple".

GCA is not something to be messed around with and if you loss partial or total vision once it is gone it is gone.

Your migraines were probably all over the head and not one sided.

Get it checked out now. If we are wrong, we are wrong, better to be safe than sorry.
