I was perfectly healthy prior but had my Flu and Covid jab Oct 5th 2024. 14 days later I go down with PMR and although tappering I am currently on 11mg daily. I think thats was a triggered it.

So I'll skip my jab.

It is thought that the Covid jab can trigger PMR and also other things. Fir example myocarditis and pericarditis are thought to be possibly triggered by the vaccine.

I’m not surprised you feel that way as there was a clear timeline; you’re not the first. There are however some here whose PMR was triggered by Covid itself or one of a large variety of other issues. Given that it is so individual it is really difficult to know half the time if you don’t have anything to point to.

This comment has come up time and time again over the last 4 years.

- how do you KNOW it was the Covid jab if you had both that and the flu one together. You don’t..

And it’s your personal choice (as it is everybody’s on here) as to whether you have another one or not.

Any vaccine may trigger PMR..,

As Dorset Lady says why did you decide it was the Covid Jab? My autoimmune problems began in October 2023 when they added an adjuvant to the flu jab for over 70s (to give an extra boost the immune system) Whilst this has put me off having any future vaccines, the seriousness of my autoimmune reaction was very rare and the flu vaccine is recognised as having saved lots of lives over the years. It’s always a toss up between how ill you could become if you contract a certain illness or whether you might get an adverse reaction to the vaccine or course of medication intended to protect you. Personal choice in the end

Thankfully I appear clear now, off pred for some 9 months but I succumbed to PMR shortly after my first covid jab. Could of course be coincidental but I believe that so many, like you and me, have had similar experiences that there is more to it that mere coincidence.

We are closing this post down.

Current medical evidence is that vaccines are safe and beneficial for the majority of people. If anyone has questions about the suitability and safety of a vaccine this is something they should discuss with a doctor.
