Followed instructions dropping to 3mg

Have been on 3 mg for 7 days, having dropped, in stages, from 8 mg. However, now have pain from neck on right hand side all the way down to fingers.

Should I increase dosage? 1 or 2 mg?

From that very brief description it sounds like you might have some nerve pinching in the neck or shoulder and needs to be assessed by a good physio or similar. You need to see if it is muscle tightness or from the spine. Which fingers are involved? How does the rest of the area feel.

You could increase to your last dose, certainly not reduce and have it checked in a nuts and bolts kind of way .

Pain was primarily in the neck, but spread down the arm to the palm of my hand.I had a trapped finger and had a steroid injection in December. Finger is no longer trapped.

Sternocleidomastoid muscle tightness (in the neck) can cause referred pain into the arm and hand on the same side.

Thank you so much for this information. I will see about getting the neck fixed and not increase Prednisolone for now.

I think it is a place to start - it could be something else but you have to start somewhere and that is a distinct possibility.

I agree with SnazzyD - this sounds more localised than PMR in general causing the problem. I'd consider going back but I'd also seek medical advice.
