Blocked femoral arteries diagnosed 9/2023, PMR Jan 24 although I had had it since June 23. I also have controlled high BP. Since last year my rheumatologist has requested my GP does a 2 monthly blood test on my markers as they think the PMR may have inflamed my arteries. I have never had raised markers. I went for the blood test on 7th feb. As the nurse had a cancellation and my yearly cardiovascular (high bp) assessment was due she did the tests for that as well. Just looked at all my results and the test for the markers hasn’t been done….. or would those tests take longer? Am I right in thinking these are the tests that have been missed?

You can’t attach 2 pictures in same post/reply - it’s not you- it’s HU..

And yes those are inflammation marker test results… and no reason why they should take longer than others, But they aren’t specific to PMR - they just show you have inflammation in body, but not the cause.

Thank you, but those are what the rheumatologist wanted to see and had asked for….. a new rheumatologist was waiting for those results before requesting another PET scan …. 🙈

In that case chase the surgery for results, if she requested them they should be in the system somewhere. But you might need to repeat them, if they got missed somehow..it does happen.

ESR and CRP are both standard tests and should be available in hours really.

" I have never had raised markers" - yes you have, the results in November 2023 are clearlt raised FOR YOU as they fell subsequently. They are now showing a rising trend from September to November - albeit it slowly and it will be interesting to see what they are now.

It is possible they have been done but not yet entered on the database because no signed off by your doctor. But if you are supposed to have them 2-monthly, why weren't they done sooner, in January, anyway - and ESR and CRP are absolutely standard for monitoring PMR/GCA.
