Saw GP today re my very sore hip.She agreed it could well be bursitis but said the fact I have already suffered a fracture due to the osteoporosis she would be more conformable to send me for an xray of the hip to rule out a fracture. And then offer the injection as a treatment, also thought physio may help, so all in all she was very thorough.
I have started the excercises suggested by the ladies on the forum and my hip is feeling a lot easier already, I seem to be able to put more weight on the leg, so thank you, will carry on. Will go for the xray early next week.

If the exercises are helping then I doubt it’s a fracture… I think you’d be in extreme pain if it were… but always worth an X-ray just in case.
Been on a trip to Queenstown/Milford Sound last couple of days with daughter [as PMRpro explained living here in NZ], so catching up… hope hubby is improving and you getting the help you need for him. Good to hear you are feeling a bit better and in less pain.. that’s goes a long way when you are trying to cope with others health problems as well. 😊
Yes definitely agree 2 weeks ago pain was really extreme, couldnt walk, and now so much better so yes dont think its a fracture think she just wants to make sure osteoporosis hasnt hot to the hip as well, I have had a hip replacement in the right hip.Thank you for your encouragement, bit tough now hubby normally very placid man, but has come out with impatience and anger moments difficult to deal with these changes, but have read these can improve with time but so good to know can talk about it to those that underdtand.
Good to hear too that you are enjoying time with your daughter enjoy. Xxx
Yes it is difficult when an health issue changes someone’s persona….for them and those around.. but as you say they do usually improve over time, and that’s all we can hope for really.
I’m on the final rundown….only 4 full days left..😟
Hallelujah for a well-informed GP! She may have a Brownie point or two ... And very pleased the pain is easing.
Sorry to hear his stroke has made him a bit stroppy - hopefully it is mainly due to frustration at being ill and dependent on you and others. Men do take it hard.
I agree didnt even have to ask for xray! 😆I can see its frustration with him, must be hard to take that one moment you can walk then you cant must be difficult to take in.
We will work through the difficult days and hope they are less than the good ones. Xx
Going through this exact thing at the moment. Going for a possible injection tomorrow, however, my xray did indicate an atypical femoral fracture, but my Specialist says "it's not that" and she has been looking a these xrays for 40 years. I now have to go for a bone scan to be sure (not BDX). My left leg and hip were almost impossible to put weight on, especially after walking for awhile and even sitting for too long. The pain is not continual. Also have pain in right hip and thigh, but not as bad. I'm told that often one might not realize they have an AFF. Fingers crossed for bursitis and a cortisone injection works.
Exactly. She says there's something in the xray that is not typical of AFF. Therebis also a thickening of something in the thigh. I will know better if the Sports Med doc shows me her report tomorrow. She didn't even put an urgent on the bone scan requisition. That's how sure she was. 🤞🤞🤞
