Update from a member in remission from GCA

Have popped in after 18 months in remission from GCA to wish everyone a Very Happy Christmas. I still very much appreciate all the help and advice I received on the forum particularly from PMRPro and Dorset Lady and to say life can be good again so keep the faith. I am once more able to enjoy all the things I used to do although a little slower but I am 5 years older too. Even lost 3 stone of my Predweight which is the biggest miracle of all. Still being monitored by wonderful Rheumatology and having infusions for Osteoporosis & spinal fractures but the weight loss has helped considerably with my trochanteric bursitis. Best Wishes to All.

No Somerset but you have supported so many of us I wouldn’t expect you to remember. Was pleased to read that you are maintaining on a much lower amount of Pred now. My sincere best wishes.

Snap! After 4 years of PMR I was able to taper off Pred 19 months ago. Enjoying life despite inevitable ageing. After 4 infusions for osteoporosis I'm taking a self-imposed drug holiday (my Rheumatolgy Dept NOT supportive). This wonderful forum kept me sane throughout. Thank you and Merry Christmas 🤗

Congratulations Portobello long may it last for both of us. Sometimes the patient really does know what’s best for them! Agree about the support it certainly kept me going throughout.

Thank you. There were times I never thought it would happen but I was always encouraged by reading your story.

Good -I always try and remind those struggling that you will get there -although not sure they always believe it at the time…it can be overwhelming .. 🌸
