I checked my blood pressure this morning and it is fine as usual, I don't need blood pressure tablets, it was 122/71, however my pulse was 111, and I could feel it beating fast. I do get this from time to time, but usually only in the 90's, which is within normal range of between 60 and 100. Is this normal whilst using steroids when BP is normal?
Thanks, mind you I do get to be 81 today, so it could be shock!!

First things first...HAPPY BIRTHDAY💐 111 does seem rather high, how long did it go on for? I'm no expert but worth calling the GP and getting it checked out. I seem to be having most of the side effects of pred including palpitations and one episode of high pulse rate. I'm having an ECG next week after sharing with my GP. Good luck and hope you are having a lovely day.
Mine was 115 a couple of weeks ago, just after I got up so I waited an hour and tried again. It was the same so I called 111. They said they would get a doctor to phone back but if he didn’t to go to A & E. They did ask me lots of questions too.
On arrival at A & E they did an ECG straight away which was fine but queried if I had flu as I had had a bad cold and cough.
I waited for 4 hours all told and eventually after seeing a doctor she said they only worry if it’s over 120 and that it does go up if you are fighting an infection as I was.
But I did go and get myself checked ( it was a Sunday) so perhaps you are best to see a GP if possible if it it continues or A & E to be on the safe side.
Many happy returns of the day 🥳I had an episode of tachycardia this morning, triggered by a panic attack. It's scary isn't it.
After talking to my endocrinologist he explained it could be due to tapering Prednisolone and adrenals waiting to 'wake up'. This leaves me with reduced capacity to deal with stress, which will raise heart rate. He advised me to stick to a comfortable level of tapering and not be rushed.
Have you got a pulse oximeter? Not expensive and you can see a tracing of your heart beat and whether it is regular or irregular and how fast it is. If it turns out to be irregular - speak to your doctor. It is less what the rate is up to about 120 but regularity that is important.
Thanks to everyone for the Happy Birthday wishes. I have had a good day so far, and have a fresh cream apple turnover lined up as my birthday cake for my husband and I tonight after dinner. That should sort my pulse out! I did wonder if dropping down from 5 days of 30mg Pred to sort my gout out might have been the problem, good news is swollen fingers are down and not hurting. Would I get a pulse oximeter online Pro?
