aneurysm

So yesterday got home to a letter from Neurovascular who had seen my scans for GCA and apparently now I have a small aneurysm in one of the arteries in my head but they are leaving it alone since the risk of intervention is higher than the risk of a bleed - anyone else have one ?

I have a chest X-ray next week for the breathlessness and further blood test for heart failure

Feel a bit like a ticking time bomb … !

Sorry to hear that - I assume they will keep an eye on you?

Not a nice scenario but I guess many of us and in general people are living with conditions that they are unaware of. Our bodies are amazing in so many different ways. Our condition makes all of us far more aware of what is happening, not in a narcissistic way but out of necessity. I'm sure that many people have conditions that they are unaware of and their bodies self correct without them realising. We unfortunately have a condition where this nice balance has been turned on its head and what used to defend us attacks us. That's why we are so attuned to thinking everything through. Try not to worry. As PMRpro says they will keep a close eye on you. Good luck.

I have 2 aneurysms in my splenic artery. Although they had appeared in a few CT scans for other things, no one had mentioned them, except in the last two reports. I asked my GP why these had no been addressed, she said they were too small. I guess we wait to see if they grow...or rupture. Eye roll.

As so well articulated by cycli , none of us know what’s going on inside our brains and body . I had some shocks while going through my mum’s medical records and hospital notes.

I had a brain MRI and MRA yesterday with contrast after having a mini stroke, it’ll be a week of anticipation. I feel it a necessity for my children, following our family history of vascular conditions, many untreatable such as small vessel ischemia which runs through the family line .

I understand how you must feel, I’d make an appointment with your GP to discuss the implications, a possible second opinion and what help they’ll be providing, what to be aware of , do you avoid blood thinners etc . God forbid it doesn’t, but if it should burst it doesn’t mean it can’t be fixed .

Our lives are in their hands, but it’s still your life .

Good luck with your X rays , again, heart failure sounds scary but it isn’t a death sentence. Let us know how you get on. Sending hugs xx

thank you everyone for your comments. I have an appointment with consultant rheumatologist in 2 weeks and will be asking a lot of questions - blood test, chest X-ray results should be in by then too - will keep you informed of outcome
