Pemf mat for Polymyalgia Rheumatica

Have any of you with polymyalgia used a PEMF mat to treat the flare ups? The mat I have has a 20 minute pulsed electromagnetic field cycle. From what I have read, this is used to relieve joint and muscle pain, and also improve circulation.

PMR is really only successfully treated with pred. if you still have pain then you might not be keeping the PMR under control. The PMR is the result of an autoimmune disease...these are complex, poorly understood diseases...save your money...or spend on a cheaper placebo (which might work for a short while but is not a cure...sorry...you can only keep taking the pred at an appropriate dose.

If you are having flare ups [plural] - then sounds as if your PMR is not properly controlled.. so being on correct dose of Pred would be much more helpful than any alternative therapy.

You’ve only had PMR about a year, and although you don’t say what dose you are on at the moment, sounds as if it’s too low.

Sure if a PEMF mat was any good, we would have seen a lot more posts about it - however, this is one from 3 years ago, which may give related posts as well -

Sounds like you've already bought a pulsed EMF mat. You should be telling us whether you feel any benefit. We don't care whether it's just the placebo effect. Placebos are the best medicine never invented. The cheapest placebos are the best value for money.
