ESR and CRP levels

Yesterday I had a blood test for ESR and CRP levels - results are:

ESR 2mm/hr

Serum C reactive protein 0.6mg/L

I am on 7mg and thought I had had a flare but think I confused the symptoms with a prodrome as had a bad migraine two days later.

These levels seem low/good?

I shall remain on 7mg for the next three weeks and then slowly try to reduce to 6.5mg.

Any thoughts welcome. Thanks.

Yes those figures are pretty good. How do you feel? Often that is more important than your blood test results. If you think you have a flare, I would increase the pred by 5mg for a week or so and see how you feel, then reduce down again. Or just carry on at 7mg for the next three weeks if you now feel OK.

Thanks for your response, Piglette. I feel OK now. I had had some headaches and soreness on the scalp (just mild) so had a slight concern re GCA but having had the tests done things seem OK and now the migraine is over the headaches have eased.

I must admit, the slightest headache used to send me into a panic of GCA!!

Yes - agree with the whole post! Sounding promising but don't get too enthusiastic since those figures only show the current dose is working well. The future is in the stars!!

Understood! This is such an unpredictable and illogical disease.

I thought my last ones were good, yours are even better, the Pred is definitely doing its job. See how you feel after three weeks and if OK then drop to 6.5mg and see how it goes.
