The chills are likely to be just a reaction to the vaccination - it isn't Covid, you cannot get Covid from the vaccine. In the UK most practice nurses recommend you take paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) for a day or two after the shot to manage such chills.
I had terrible chills after my first and second vaccines. The nurse at my doctors said she had the same. They were horrible and started the evening after I had the vaccine.
This is a bit worrying. I got the invite to book my appointment and the earliest I could get is 9 days before I go to Mexico for 2 weeks. It doesn't give me long to recover from the vaccine before I go away and I will be in the midst of my pre holiday prep then. It took me about 3 weeks to get over the pneumonia jab in August and I also felt terrible after the covid jab last year too. These vaccines really stir up the PMR symptoms and fatigue every time. Ideally I would like the covid vax to be up to date before I head for an airport, but I am seriously thinking about postponing until I get back.
Vaccines work by fooling the immune system into thinking it is facing a real virus, which it isn't. Chills and other symptoms are just signs that the vaccine has worked.
