So frustrating! Small comfort to know others are ‘afflicted” but have a look in ‘Related Posts’ where others have expressed their own thoughts. Here’s one for starters (unfortunate turn of phrase!) :healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

It is a well known side effect of pred, It changes how your body processes carbs - and one of the first things we often say is to CUT YOUR CARBS! Especially processed carbs, baked goods of all sorts, potatoes, rice and pasta as side dishes and limit fruit. That helps reduce weight gain and the risk of developing steroi-induced diabetes.

And as said - look at the Related Posts that have come up now you have posted! ANd there will be more as you look at different posts as each can only show 10!

agree with PMRPro…. Been on pred since 2013 and have not gained weight,….because I quickly discovered the risk of eating white foods, eg., pasta, sugar based items, baked goods, white rice, etc. Once weight is gained, it’s difficult to lose. Best to be aggressive about limiting risky foods up front. Also this approach can help reduce your risk of developing diabetes. Just sayin….

If you read related posts, many of us found that Pred causes glucose spikes around 3-6 hours after taking it. So if you eat things that increase your blood sugar aka glucose level around then, your body deals with it by storing it as fat. So cutting sugar and carbs especially around that time seems to help many people avoid putting on weight and wards off type 2 diabetes

It really makes you want to spit. Carrying on as you were suddenly makes you put on weight, good old pred!! It is so unfair. In fact pred and diet are incredibly important.
