Is my inflammation normal?

Thank you for all the replies to my last post! Since then I have received blood results taken a week ago. They include the following: SED Rate 23, CRP 3.1. The SED rate has really dropped from 2 years ago when it peaked at 107. I checked Google for a "normal" CRP for an elderly man (83) and he says it should be at or below 1.0 I guess I still have some inflammation. My GCA must be alive and well in there. Can you provide some advice on these numbers? Thank you so much.

They are pretty good - they are very non-specific markers which means all sorts of things can raise them Do you have any chest or muscle problems? They can raise CRP. It also depends what your local lab uses as units for measuring it - thay can change it by a factor of 10, so under 10 or under 1. Is there a figure in brackets after the result?

No, no figures. All I received were the raw numbers. I don’t have any chest or muscle pain. I will ask about the units. Thank you.

Thankfully, you are curious and pursue information. It took me a while before I learned from the forum and questioned my rheumy. Then we had conversations about my care; I had input. We manage the disease and hope for remission...but we always need to keep our eyes open. Be Well~!💞

CRP is often measured in mg/L or mg/dL, so the same result can be 10x different. For example, the link below says:

"The normal finding for C-reactive protein (CRP) is < 1.0 mg/dL or < 10.0 mg/L".
