Flare or other issues?
Often it is said that a few weeks after dropping is a common lag for a flare if the new dose is a bit too low. A rise in symptoms at this time are worth listening to. However, there isn’t a hard and fast rule because autoimmune activity can pick up at any point for other reasons. If that happens, the current dose might become insufficient when it was doing the job before. This is why it is termed “remission” when symptoms seem to have gone once Pred has finished.
Thanks snazzy, just seems since I reduced in April, been in pain all over, started with groin pain, still ongoing, but hands rest of body hirting bigtime, tylenol not doingbl much, and do have odteoarthriis , back, hips, hands rtc, hard to stsnd and walk, bit these arent my original pmr symptons 8 yrs ago, could be coincidence bit trying to figure out what s going on with me, and both rheumy and GP want me to taper of theis pred, meantime have had MRI s exrays, ultrasounds, all shows Im a mess, GP thinks long term pred could be reason, see an ortho dr on 11th hoping maybe guided ultrasound steroid injection can help, just so tired and worn out frim chronic pain
So, Arvine, are you saying that you have NOT been fine ever since the taper to 4mg? So perhaps this dose is too low, or perhaps it is adrenals or, yes, perhaps it is coincidence.
Yes that s my dilema, was down to 4 mgs middle of April wasnt too bad until groin pain started up June 23 rd, and really since then every other pain and hirting in body, have had MRI s back and both hips, see ortho on sept 11th, had exrays on hands show osteo, and right hip exray shows osteo, and GP and rheumy want me to get off pred, today have kidney ultrasound, cyst on kidney larger than was in 2021, just a mess one thing after another, oh and first of year in Jan started off with tears, gluteus muscle and hamstring, just from stretching when making bed, in agony and worn out
ah, ok. I was just trying to clarify the circumstances. You will need someone with much greater expertise than me to advise you. Hope things improve for you.
