I went on a bike ride yesterday. My front wheel hit something and I fell. Scrapes, and broken clavicle. Bad timing, as I am planning my daughter’s wedding for Sept. 7th. I’m currently on 2 mg. pred. Also have been on Actemra, although I suspended it while getting over Covid. I’m about to take another dose, as over Covid. My question is, should I up my prednisone?

Have you been prescribed painkillers to help. You probably don’t need to increase Pred to help with pain as such, but do be aware your adrenals may well struggle and/or the accident may cause a flare so just keep an open mind for now.
Hope you soon improve, and do as much delegating as you can, and that wedding goes smoothly.
Yes, prescribed pain killers. Ok, will stay on two unless I see signs of a flare. Have felt concerned because: Covid on top of an accident/broken bone, on top of all the happy stress of planning a wedding! Thank you DL!
I would say only if you feel a real need to. It is unlikely to help the injuries, but it is possible 2mg is a bit low to help with the shock. Keep a sharp eye out for feeling unwell, shaky and confused and take maybe 10mg pred if you do rather than upping the pred unnecessarily.
North of England - 300 miles from here. We have to take my parents, with dementia and difficult! Fortunately we didn't have to do much organising for tis one, just footed some of the bill!
I hope you get good weather and it all goes off without a hitch.🙂
I am the mother of the bride so most of the planning has been on me! Somehow, I’ve managed it. And I’ll have lots of help the week of. I live on the central coast of California so it should be beautiful weather for our wedding! I wish you the same!
My bones are misaligned, so surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. Any advice regarding prednisone, Actemra, etc? (I suspended Actemra a month ago when I got Covid.)
You need to discuss your meds with the anaesthetist - and you will be given Pred in IV form during your procedure… and they may suggest you up your normal dose for a few days post operation.
Have you take a dose of a Actemra since covid -mask you mentioned in original post? Just looked, and that should be stopped before an operation.. so if you have taken a dose then you need to tell anaesthetist that as well.
Pred - that is the anaesthetist's province, they will probably provide intraoperative cover with hydrocortisone in the drip. Actemra should be stopped before elective surgery, so you should be fine there if you haven't started again after Covid. 4 weeks before for infusions, 2 weeks for sub cutaneous injections. It shouldn't be restarted after surgery until there is good wound healing, typically 14 days,
update: I took the prednisone the night before with my usual yogurt. I’ve been off Actemra for about a month. The surgery went very well. The first two days postop were pretty rough, but this is the third day and I’m feeling surprisingly well!
