Local Consultant who understands PMR

I think I've seen it mentioned that there is a list somewhere of Rheumatologists who really understand PMR. Can someone point me in the right direction please, or recommend someone in East Sussex please?I'm just thinking ahead as my lovely GP has retired and I'm dreading arguments with the existing Drs.

Thanks.

There isn’t a list as such, some are well known to be good so they get a mention, but most recommendations come from existing patients.

Hopefully you will get some responses to your post.

Prof Rod Hughes always gets a mention - if you can see him privately -

I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure this guy got a lot of praise - he is known as Dr Sam locally I think.

Thanks. He's actually local to me so perhaps I can get a referral on NHS instead of always having to pay to get anything done.

Hi Pusph. I'm in Downash, just south of Hailsham. Have you seen a consultant with your PMR, and was he/she helpful?Hope you're keeping well.

Hi yes. I was diagnosed in April 2022 and was under GP. But in March this year was sent to a Rheumatologist at DGH Eastbourne - Dr. Anita Subasinghe - a locum I think. She seemed very nice but said something about putting me on something else as well as Pred. I'm down to 5.5mg and don't want to rock the boat so I shall resist! Got a follow up appointment on 12th of this month.

Agree, no point in adding in anything else if you are down to 5.5mg.. and probably was methotrexate…

If I were on 5.5 on my own - no rocking the boat with other medication!
