On 10mg Pred all ok except that the soles of my feet feel swollen now I am also taking Amlodipine and Clopidogrel so got an appointment with GP on Friday (28th) and am wondering the following I have been on Amlodipine for about 10yrs been on pred for about 5 months been on Clopi for about 4weeks the problems with my feet have been with me for about 2 years (same time I suffered with PMR) but did not seem related did have a bout of gout thought!really in a bit of dilemma especially as my GP is good but a bit clueless on PMR
So my thinking is it might be Amlodipine it might be left over pMR or it might be the Tropi
So hears my thinking the quickest way is to increase Pred to say 17.5mg for about a week and see what happens I can stop taking Amlodi but it would probably take 2 week to a month to know or I could stop taking Clopi any thoughts?
Thanks

But hopefully not about other things? I think you may need to discuss it with him. I don't know about the amitriptyline but there is usually a very good reason for being on clopidogrel and I don't think it would be advisable to stop it since it is used to reduce the risk of clotting.
What do you mean when you say your feet feel swollen?
As you are on Amlodipine and Clopidogrel guessing you have cardiac issues, but nothing in your bio… if so, that may be causing the swollen feet problems . I doubt PMR is the main problem.. although it might be an added issue.
But neither cardiac/coronary drug should be stopped without relevant medical advice.
No cardiac condition as such on Amlodipine for blood pressure (10yrs)and on Clopidogrel (4weeks) for claudication behind right knee (took over a year to see vascular team and get tests completed)
Okay... thanks.. might be worth discussing changing Amlodipine for similar in case it's that as you've had problems for a couple of years. I was on that for donkey's years without a problem.. but one never knows. Since having a break from BP meds after GCA/Pred etc now on a different drug.
Doubt it's Clopidogrel as you've only seen on short time - long after problem. But think you do need a chat with doctor..
Amlodipine made my husbands’s normally very trim ankles swell up with fluid - disappeared rapidly when he stopped the medication. Not sure about soles of feet though - probably worth a mention to your GP or equivalent? All the best. PS He had another BP medication supplied when he stopped the Amlodipine with his GPs approval
Speaking as a retired nurse I strongly advise you to speak to a Gp before you stop these medicines. They are for prevention of high BP and to prevent blood clots. If you haven’t any faith in your present GP it might be an idea to change to someone else who you trust.
Hi. Amlodipine and other drugs in same group called Calcium Channel Blockers do cause swelling and fluid overload in ankles and feet. You need to speak to your Dr to get your medication changed as these side effects will not go over time.Me, retd Pharmacist!
