Adult Onset Stills Disease is categorised as autoimmune /auto inflammatory. Over the years I’ve developed several other AI conditions such as Interstitial Cystitis and Lichen Sclerous. I have fungal nail disease on my left foot, gout in left toe, finger warts on my left hand, over growth of soft gum tissue on the left side of my gum and when my skin flares its worst on the left….. my question is can AI conditions be side biased this way?
Looking ahead to the shingles vax at 65 I’m wondering what to expect. I believe shingles attacks an area of your body and wonder if my left side will attract it so to speak.
I’m probably talking rubbish especially as my rheumatoid condition in the first instance attached joints bilaterally. These days the pain appears at will wherever it wishes but is equally debilitating left and right sides and trigger finger (DC) is present in both hands.
Does this make me a lefty ha ha

Interesting as though I have problems both sides my right side is affected more so and always has been. I often wonder if this is something causing more problems one side or if a weakness that side makes it seem worse. My ptosis is right side, and weaker re muscles that side ,my right hand points to the right, my calf pains are the right side, my neck pains right side ,skin worse right side , foot worse right side and more yet both sides afflicted.it does and you do raise a good question
Hi StillsI don't seem to have a side that's biased, I have multiple problems on both sides. However,I have just come down with chickenpox again, second time in adulthood and it's mainly on my left side. The first time it was all over.
I remember when I had my bilateral hip replacements in 1990, after 14 years I had to have a revision on the left side and the surgeon said sats show that its mainly the left that has to have a revision first. I've since had one on the right, but it was interesting he said it was mainly the left that went first... To date...Three total hip replacements and two revisions...we'll see which side falls next!
Both shoulders are shot, but my left is worse, waiting a replacement.
Not autoimmune issues... but I have minor issues working upwards... bunion on right foot, replaced left knee, replaced right hip, replaced left shoulder, and useless right eye..
.. if you're a 'lefty' then that makes me well balanced! First time for everything I suppose..😲
Mind you, I do blame my mother -I have a Z in my name... 🤣😂
I don’t know but my life’s ills have been on my right - Appendicitis (I know there’s no choice there), cancer, snapped cruciate, shingles, sinusitis bouts, pelvic muscle issues, bunion, main GCA symptoms, headaches, right sided stroke after knee op. One could argue that one thing on a side can set up a higher probability of other things following in its wake.
I’m left handed but my right is the strong side and I’m right footed. The one big thing that has happened on my left is a congenital defect, a branchial cyst in my left side of the neck.
Well, you know how it is, you deal with the knock on effects of each thing, collecting them like battle trophies. At least they didn’t all happen at the same time!
