Nearing the end.......maybe.

I've spent the last 17 weeks extremely slowly reducing my prednisone dose from .5 mg to zero. I'm so close after 8 years, but am always mindful of PMRpro's mantra, "the lowest EFFECTIVE dose". Filling my pill box for next week I realized that there's only one more .5 mg dose for the next 2 weeks and then...........none. After 8 years it would be nice to declare victory but I know better than to be certain that the PMR is gone for sure. Still it would be nice. I'm a shadow physically of what I was 8 years ago but then again age alone accounts for some of that! I would guess that part of my 8 years with PMR is due to continuing to work full time throughout. It's been a real balancing act. Finally next month I will be cutting back to about 20 hours per week - nice. And so I stand with my prednisone pills at the ready. Whether I get to zero permanently or not doesn't matter too much to me, if I can control it at a low dose. Dose or No Dose - what's effective is what matters.

Fingers crossed you get to zero, but as you rightly say… a small dose is absolutely fine…. QOL is paramount.

I hope you make it, I can only imagine the trials and tribulations you’ve been through to get here. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

Great - and you would hope that 1/2mg once a fortnight wasn't holding back too much wouldn't you! Hope we're right!
