Hi everyone …I'm feeling ok but my weight gain is just crazy I’ve managed to go down 1/2mg of prednisone at a time to now 7-1/2 mg have been on that 6 weeks but I’m wondering with all this weight should I try and decrease another 1/2mg or should I work on diet first….appreciate any advice thanks

Work on diet - cut carbs drastically and be consistent and honest. This is a very useful site

dietdoctor.com/low-carb

and keeping a food diary will catch any mistakes you make in what you can or can't eat.

You may lose weight as the dose falls but there are no guarantees, some lose nothing until they are off pred altogether and that will only happen when the PMR is burnt out and in remission otherwise not enough pred will just result in a flare.

Diet first every time! It took my body months after stopping Pred to readjust but my metabolism didn’t go back to before Pred. Even now 3.5 years later I still don’t have a pile of carb on my plate for every meal, partly because it doesn’t occur to me. I started on the low carb thing early and it really worked.
