trigger point injections

I will be having my first trigger point injections. I know very little about them. If you have had them, I would love to hear about your experience, and what I can expect from them.

Thank you

I think the Pain Clinic doctor here has done trigger point injections while she is doing the wet needling technique she does. Some are just subcutaneous along the tight muscles but one or two have been near/above trigger points. It is just a small injection and over very quickly, it can be quite painful for a few seconds but for me it works well so the tiny bit of pain is not a problem. It takes effect quite quickly because of the lidocaine that is usually in the injection but sometimes it is a few days before all the effect kicks in.

I bought 3 items on the Walmart website which you may find useful. Of the three the Hand Trigger for Myofacial Release Muscle Recovery gets top marks. It cost just $4.94 for 2 plastic spiked balls. I use the ball for diagnostic purposes on my arms. Then I work on the spots I have identified. The second item is the Top Boutique Wand Massage. I find it great for massaging my finger joints in on all sides. The third item is a large laminated poster called Trigger Points. The publisher is Bar Charts Inc .The best of health to you!

No worries, I have had quite a few. I was sitting, hand resting on table/plinthe. You will be asked to point to the finger(s) and demonstrate the motion while clinician palpates tendon at the end of palm. ( mcp joint area and A1 and A2 bands : google ).Your hand will be cleaned with bedadine solution(non staining brown fluid). Fine needle will be inserted and small amount of cortisone administered, then band aid. Takes a few minutes. It will feel "full" for a bit < 1hr, while med is absorbed....No worries...

Hope this answers your question...
