I'm tapering using Dorset lady program. Im on week 5 so almost on 3 1/2 from four Im doing really well & noticed on the days I'm on the old dose of 4 mil I'm taking more painkillers . So is my body saying its happy on the lower dose. By the way I was diagnosed with PMR & put on steroids & a year later I was told its fibyo but still needed to tapper so I can't thank you all enough for the advice I had

Yes I understand that but coming off steroids has been a nightmare for me. Many times I had to go up to get down . So this happening now is a unexpected bonus . I still have fibyo but the steroids were a nightmare path I never needed to endure but was misdiagnosed
That’s sounds more like adrenals causing you issues…. and what pains are you having on the days when you are on the [albeit slightly] higher doses? As you know Pred can mask other aches and pains, so sounds a bit odd.
When fibyo is bad every joint from the neck to your toes is flaring . But not every day but at the same time fibyo still never gives you a day off just less pain
I found that there came a point where I felt better on the low dose days than the higher dose days - so just went to all new dose without completing the taper schedule. But I didn't start the next taper immediately.
Do you take painkillers all the time? What and why? There is a growing movement to discourage constant use of painkillers of any sort as that increases the long term effects on cardiovascular and renal side effects.
