Been on 60mg pred for GCA for 6 days. While main symptoms have reduced by about 80%, I have been getting positional headaches. So when bending down, getting up, or sneezing or coughing. I did not have this before I started pred. It's fairly mild and goes away when I am upright. My blood pressure is normal.Seeing GP tomorrow but wonder whether others have had these symptoms. The pain is at the front, top and around my forehead. Thank you.

Positional headache
I didn’t get that type of headache on Pred for GCA. I can’t remember about before Pred started. You do say that your symptoms aren’t quite controlled so it may be your GCA is causing it. Some people need more than 60mg.
Like SnazzyD never had that sort of headache -but 6 days is not that long . Obvious if they persist you need to speak to doctor
positional headache was one of my many symptoms before GCA was diagnosed. They ran me through all the tests for a CFS (cerebrospinal fluid leak) instead of low fluid I was bordering on high 🤷🏻♀️. Anyways those headaches went away after I was diagnosed with GCA when a neuro opthamologist did a biopsy after losing partial sight in one eye. Prednisone stopped all my issues just created new ones but saved my sight.

I was diagnosed with only PMR, and during my 2.5 years of treating its symptoms I was fortunate enough not to also acquire GCA.
My initial daily Pred dose was 80 mg for 2 days, then reduced to 60 mg for 4 weeks, then decreased to 50 mg and continued tapering. I did not suffer headaches. I was more hyper than is normal as if I ever thought that was even possible.
